    Hey,

Just wondering could anyone put a breakdown of nutrition data on my regular lunch and most importantly the total calorie count.

Large white or brown baguette (with inside dough removed), mayo one side, butter the other, ham or chicken, lettuce, onion. I am thinking 500 cal but this is a complete guess.

    Thanks
    JD

I think it can be hard to tell but I wouldn't be surprised if they are north of 750 calories. The bread [either white or brown] is not great and you definitely want to avoid breaded chicken [assuming it is]. If you are trying to lose weight or change to a more healthy lunch there are a million better things then a roll to be honest.

    Thanks for reply,
Hopefully not, I was hoping closer to 400 calories. The chicken is sliced breast (not breaded), mayo is light mayo and as the dough has been removed from the inside of the roll it would surely brinf the calorie count down significantly?
Please tell me it will, pleeaase

Definitely north of 600 at least for normal roll. Removed dough would have impact but depends how much.

Bottom line : it's a crap lunch regardless.

If you insist on bread then have a sandwich instead of a baguette.

Or make your own sandwiches - grill a few chicken breasts etc. You'll have more control over the calorie content and you can probably make something a lot nicer. You'll save money too.

You should get a calorie counter app for your phone. Myfitnesspal is great. Will figure all that out for you

Could be 600 or 700 cals.

Why are you pulling the dough out from the bread?! That seems weird. If you're doing it to reduce calories then maybe rethink your lunch entirely, it's pretty terrible at the moment.

Weigh the ingredients. Add them to myfitnesspal.
Enter the bread in as 1 gram serving size. Multiplied by how much it weighs rather than one of the pre generated serving options.

Like, pulling out the middle only reduces the amount of bread a small bit. The whole rest of the roll is still there, you've probably removed 10-15% of it..? There is absolutely no way a large roll, mayo, butter and chicken is just 400 calories. A sandwich of the same filling would be nearly that, with each bread slice being 80-100 calories.

    Thank for the replies,

I have started using myfitnesspal in the last few days but find there is huge differences between calorie densities on same/similar foods listed, so find myself half guessing a lot of the time which kinda defeats the purpose, hence the original post.

My diet in general isn't too bad, I think! !
Normally start with porridge, snack - banana and apple, lunch - ROLL or sambo from deli, snack fruit or yogurt, dinner some kind of meat, veg x 2 or 3, mash or baby potatoes with knob of butter, evening ( after training ) poched egg x2 and beans. The last couple of week iv been cutting out the chocolate bar or biscuits with the tea after super.

Any advice on improving would be Gmuch appreciated, especially lunch time as when I leave out carbs I never fell full or satisfied.

You'll get two chicken breasts for less than a roll from a deli. Put two chicken breasts with some salad and if you're not full, I'd be surprised. Same with a couple of tins of tuna. Nothing wrong with a roll from time to time but shouldn't be your lunch too often.

Nothing wrong with carbs but you have to keep in mind what you're taking in on a day as a whole. Use myfitnesspal to gauge the breakdown of carbs, protein and fat.
