Great offers. I love their XXL sale :D. Got three boxes of the beer yesterday, one pack of the multi-surface wipes and some spaghetti. Unfortunately they don't have the packs of 24 toilets rolls this time. That was a good deal. :(

The only time we buy spaghetti is on the XXL offers, stock it up!

I got the 2 litre multi-vitamin juice for €1.79. Think it's carrot, orange and lemon. It's really nice and a bargain at that price.

The beer is grand once it's nice and cold.

Passata great deal @ 99c for 1 (kg)

Basmati Rice not too great a deal though - €6.49 for 4.5kgs = €1.44 per kg

Aldi have a stock product of Basmati Rice for €1.49 per 1 kg so not worth stocking up Lidl's one imo, a large bag with air getting to it, nah.

Personally speaking I prefer it over most of the standard brands - Carlsberg, Heineken etc etc ...

Ya should try the wheat beer they stock.franzkaner weiss bier. 1.89 a 500 ml bottle. They were doing 4 for €5 last week.not sure if the deal is still on, but it's lovely juice

Just smashed the jar of chocolate spread on the floor so this is great timing - perfect for spreading on the pancakes....

Fine beer, much more flavour than any of your Bud, Heineken etc (which admittedly isn't saying much). Great deal at the price.

I often get it. Fine when chilled properly.

I love the beer even warm. Not got the funds to take advantage this time. :(

Great deal at standard price tbh. Not that long ago it was €6.29 for the 6 pack and when it was on offer it'd be €4.29 or €4. Them was the days :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,996 ✭✭✭10green bottles

It's beer from a glass bottle so straight away its > better than beer from a can. After drinking four from the 8 and with an alcohol content of 4.9% vol you wont care if its chilled or just relaxed a little ;) Trust me,this is good beer.Unit price per half litre/bottle = 87.37c or aprox €1.75 per litre.Win/Win IMO

Yeah man I hop on that offer every time it pops up - superb beer.

I second that beer. I bought five boxes of it to have it in the back of the house over the next few months

went trough a phase of drinking perlenbaucher when they did the 6 for 4.29 promo every few months a few years back. i get a rotten hangover off it so its not worth it and i generally don't get hangovers so id rather spend the extra few quid for a better quality drink. still good deal though and they are tastey when ice cold

Well I will have to judge that myself. :D

But at that price, its on to a winner straight away.

used to drink thats beer a bit but found it too inconsistant, mostly good but some batchs were very poor too

    Is it bad?

    It's not bad!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,371 ✭✭✭acquiescefc

not XXL or beer but strawberries are 1.99, or 2 for 2.00. so 1c for 2nd pack.

Well it is cheap beer. I dont expect much from it to be honest. I would be very surprised if it was as good as a branded established beer.

    Who brews it?

Don't know who brews it but it's much better than a lot of the branded established beers imo. As others have said though make sure it's nicely chilled.

It is brewed for Lidl by these guys https://www.google.ie/#q=mauritius+brewery+germany.

The important thing is that it is brewed according to the German purity law
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reinheitsgebot

It's top quality but don't buy more than one pack in case it's not to your taste. After all life is too short to drink beer you don't like!

Hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised. Its much nicer than the mainstream muck.
"Branded established beer" is generally awful here.

The Aldi basmati rice is really good at 1.49, just saying if you didn't want to splash out on 4.5 kgs of it from Lidl @ 6.49 that a good alternative is 1kg @ 1.49 in Aldi.

Well. That all depends on the brand.

Im having a branded Tyskie right now. Its quite tasty. In fact . Its lovely. I might even have another.

Well if you've already decided that Tyskie is better then don't bother trying the other beer. ;),I give up

Perlenbacher is grand, as long as it's sufficiently chilled. It's stronger and a lot cheaper than the likes of Bud and Heineken so that's a major plus.

1 litre cien shower gel 1.69, that should last me until the world cup.

    the one in Russia? :P

Was in the finglas store late last night, got 2 of the last 4 packs of the beer.
Are they restocked regularly? Strawberries were all gone too

The size of the xxl shower gel!!! if you dropped that on your toe in the shower then its game over. must be about 3 litres.

just stocked up on a few things like the spaghetti.

Lidl really have their **** together compared to Aldi which is like a bloody jumble sale at times. The girlfriend says she has to go elsewhere for certain things but i could certainly live out of lidls.

Regarding the beer, i get the Nobelaner packs of ten and i think the price is down to 4.75 which is less than it costs for 1 pint in my local but the previous poster is right as there doesnt seem to be any quality control and one bottle might taste different from the last but i dont mind, still not as bowfing as Bud

Lidls xxl fresh orange juice is lovely.Tried it today and well impressed with the taste.
Also bought some nice hand tools, wire strippers, long nosed pliers, pipe grips, adjustable wrench for 3 euro each, would have cost me at least double that in a diy chain store.
