I'm relatively young at 27 but having lost yet another friend again recently it makes you think how you really never know what's around the corner.
I have some investments that I won't see a return on for a few years but when I die I'd like to have the peace knowing that the money will go to where I wanted it to. I assume it would just go to my family but there are a few other places I'd like some of the money to go.
Also I'd like to make my funeral a very happy occasion. I've been to some funerals where everyone is properly celebrating the life of that person and telling old stories of them and being very content. I'd really like everyone to enjoy themselves, not pop into work after lunch. Maybe a Saturday night funeral would be an idea. I've never heard of it done before but I'm sure people do it somewhere in the world.
I'm going off on stupid tangents as usual but basically I'm asking what people have planned for their own funerals.
Do I need to contact someone to ensure this is actually done?

Everytime I come across a good song I tell someone to play it at my funeral.
They can all fight over the prescription pain killers Ive saved up over the years.
    Theres not much else.

I'll probably just lay underground in a wooden box of some sort and do whatever corpses do.

The Facebook funeral cartoon should be compulsory reading for the 15-30 age bracket.

To be mounted on a plaque and hung over the fireplace beside the picture of Pope John Paul.

Blown up with all my money and possessions so none (if any) of my family are fighting and falling out with each other over who should deserve my stuff more.

I am kind of hoping to stay alive until 2050, hopefully by then someone will invent a cure for getting old or dying in general.

I'm planning not to be there when it happens

I used to do that but the problem is you keep getting older and they keep releasing new songs.

For example, I no longer think "here comes the hotstepper" is appropriate for a funeral.

For now, I'd like to be cremated and made into fireworks, I've made sure both my mother and best friend would make this happen if I did suddenly die. If in the future I have enough money to throw away on it, I'd like to be cryogenically frozen, but it's nothing I have any real faith in and I would not get into debt or struggle for it.
Being 17, I haven't got many poccessions, if I died tomorrow, the only issue that could arrise is who will look after my dog, but I'm sure my mother would do that.

I'm practicing being a smelly bastard on a daily basis if that counts.

    Yep.

I plan on postponing it for the forseeable future.

Yeah I wasn't everything to go to the local catholic church.

Only joking but the amount of oaps that leave their homes to the church is ridiculous. It's not like it's tight on cash or helping the vulnerable

Yes, I have a signed DNR and i want my body to go to science. No funeral just a bit of a party or whatever to celebrate life.

I'm 30 and I have all my funeral plans made. I have a drawer with all the necessary things in it, etc. Copies of Life assurance Policies, Credit Union Acc's, Bank acc's and last wishes and a copy of my will, I also have my will with my solicitor. I certainly don't have a whole lot to leave but I have enough to bury me and a good party afterwards.

My Brother will be passed two years at the end of the month, He was young and it was sudden, Massive heart attack, completely out of nowhere. He had no savings, no life assurance, no last wishes wrote down. We gave him the best send off we could and that we thought he wanted. My parents and myself and my other siblings had to borrow and all pool in together to pay for it, between the cost of a new plot and the funeral it was over €10,000. I had never thought it would be so expensive it die, but it is. Since that day I made sure I would leave enough money to cover my funeral and plot and a huge p**s up after it.A lot of people thinks its mundane to do so but it genuinely gives me peace of mind. I think everyone should have life assurance and I'm shocked at the amount of people that don't.

I would hate to leave my family in debt and I think regardless of age it's never to young to have some plans made!

I want to have a Game of Thrones themed death bed. My blankets would be made of fur, lots of candles in the room with no Sunlight, I would wear a crown and everyone would have to dress up and speak as if they were in a Game of Thrones. My painkiller will be wine (with a hint of morphine) and everybody must address me as M'Lord.

I want to sign off my body to medicine for when I die, but my partner doesn't very much like the idea of it.

So, no, I haven't. I don't have a need to. Nothing to fight over.

It is something I have thought of a lot considering my many brushes with death. Everything I have goes to my sons except my jewelry which is for my sister.

I have told them I wish to be cremated and as I go through the curtain I want Green Day "time of your life (good riddance)" played coz I hope I have had the time of my life. (I have so far)

Other than that, what ever comforts those left behind is what I want. Coz the way I look at it I will be dead and won't give a f**k but those who are left are the ones that matter. If my parents are still alive they might be comforted by a Christian style burial and I hope my kids will go along with that but if they are gone then a memorial with no religion attached will be more appropriate since have brought them up atheists. But as I say....whatever makes them feel comfortable coz I am gone.

It's something I wouldn't have bothered much with before having kids. Now that we have one, we're long overdue for making a will at this stage. Not only of course would it ensure that she would be cared for in the way that we want, it would mean that there's no anguish poured on what would no doubt be a difficult time for both our families.

While both families are reasonable people who would eventually come to a reasonable solution on what to do, it would be a long period of stress for them all. I imagine both sets of grandparents would immediately want to step in and become guardians for our daughter. Instant pain point right there.
So a will removes that; and while no doubt someone will disagree with our choice, they will respect it and it will result in far less pain and heartache than dying intestate.

Anyway, I don't plan on going anywhere until my daughter is at least in her 40s, so hopefully that will never has to be realised...

I bribed a council official to get a premium plot in the local graveyard. It's the highest ground in the graveyard, and looks down on those bastards, the McCarthys and the Kennedys. But most of all, it will be overlooking where Jack Carty is going to be buried. This news has already aged the old prick. I've heard it is eating him up inside.

Only financial stuff so my family get sorted out if I die early.

Also made a will since we had the kids in case both of us die before they're adults.

As for a funeral, I couldn't care less what they do but I do have in mind where I'd like to be buried.

Not something I've really considered. I don't have any valuable possessions to leave in a will at this stage. I'd like to be cremated/organs given to science and my ashes thrown into the Irish Sea with a party after. Nothing fancy. My uncle had his ashes strewn on the mouth of the Shannon in Cavan (where all my dad's side is from) on a beautiful but blustery day and we all managed to get a mouthful of them but everyone saw the humour in it. He was a serious character: worked on building sites in Boston for years, great sense of humour, was a bit anti-establishment and possessed a real devil-may-care attitude, so it was fitting. I thought it was a beautiful tribute to him and indicative of the circle of life and all da. Definitely wouldn't want to be buried anyway and if even a hint of religion is snuck into it, I'll....well...nothing. I'll be dead. Do what you like.

My mates have all been told what to do,

what harddrives to run magnets over, what boxes to burn, what componants from my PC they get, who gets my DVDs etc. All that is sorted.

I have also told them to get a keg or 3 for the wake and i've told my OH to move on whenever she wants to and not worry about it.

Oh yeah i'm getting buried with a mobile phone too. I should still get some sort of reception in case of emergency

While most are focused on legal matters, I'm seeing a start-up opportunity for Legacy Cleaners Ltd. We would specialise in data destruction and tact.

After every trace of me has been deleted from the Earth, I'd like my coffin to be carried by people of wildly different heights, wearing clown noses and flippers, and my naked body to be buried under a nice oul tree somewhere.

Legal smegal, I'll be dead and won't have to worry about that crap all i'll be is something in peoples memories and i'd rather that to be of a nice normal person not one with folders full of horse dick pics, Rebecca Black songs, the twilight audiobooks, the rule 34 pics of the Queen and the less said about the tentacle porn the better.

of course they are all examples i wouldn't actually have any of that stuff....

I set up a MS Outlook thing to email one of my friends for 2 years after I'd left a certain company.

It must be said, that after the first couple, she didn't find it very amusing.

But hey, it was a slow Friday afternoon and there wasn't much else to do. I got a cheap laugh out of it and that's all that matters :D

They nuke all our office accounts if we leave here now because of something like that.

Guy set it up to email everyone in the office (500 or so people) with his true feelings to everyone after 2 months or so. Caused quite a sh*tstorm
