I think the high standard of OPs for match threads for big games has intimidated others from starting match threads for shytey games like this one.

Anyhoo, the team is considerably improved from last week with the inclusion of Ireland's second choice front row, + Reddan and Ferg.
In filthy conditions and with a rather callow back line I dont expect fireworks tonight but hopefuly we have enough to dog our way through with an outside change of a BP.

Pity we have no Lukey, a week too soon and all that.

We are 16 pt favourites with pp but I wouldnt say that's good value - a 10 - 12 point spread would be fair enough in these conditions.

Also no Strauss - slightly worried.....

Good team, conditions not the worst in D4 even if the pitch will be heavy going, but certainly not so bad that we couldn't attempt a fairly expansive game plan imo.

Almost more so than the head to heads, these are the kind of games that make or break the league campaign. Anything other than a win would be a disaster, but I would still be disappointed if we didn't manage to be clinical enough to secure a BP win over the 80 minutes. We need to keep the pressure on at the top, the BP win in Zebre was a massive result given the venue and players available, I think we should expect one more from this game than we could have from that one, so not securing the BP win would undo some of that good work. Ospreys, Ulster, Munster and Glasgow are all involved in fixtures this round where they probably should get BP wins, so I hope we keep that in mind.

(Ulster being postponed, but whenever they get around to this round of fixture).

Why are there two match threads?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,207 ✭✭✭durkadurka

Oops, never saw the other one- mods please lock the least sexy one.

This could be a very low scoring game given the conditions, it's awful out there.

For anyone in the terrace, or I suppose at the game in general, this is an important piece of information.

A life long Leinster fan by the name of Carl Lawlor sadly passed away recently. Many of you will know him from his spot at the front of the large terrace pitchside, where he stood for every home game and would often be seen on TV during match days too, with his mascot "Lenny" the lion.

As he was such a piece of furniture at Leinster games, he had become well known to many terrace dwellers and members of the OLSC.

As such, in tribute to his fanatical fandom of Leinster and for his family who will be watching the game tonight, the OLSC and some supporters have arranged to start a chant at the 5 minute mark of the game, when there is a break in play. It will originate from the large terrace section of the ground (under the Anglsea Stand at the North stand side)

"There was only one Carl Lawlor"

This will be lead by a group on the terrace, and if you are attending, it would be very touching to all the people that knew him and his family if you would kindly join in. Feel free to tell people around you about it before the game and to encourage people to join in too. I'm sure it would mean the world to his family and friends if this can be heard throughout the ground, and would have meant the world to on of the most die hard Leinster fans there has been, so I'd strongly encourage anybody attending to get involed in this great gesture of respect.

This is not a personal effort of myself, but is being arranged by Donny B on Leinsterfans and members of the OLSC who have tweeted about it.

    RIP Carl Lawlor

    Bummer

@dk3lly: Late change, Bent for McGrath. A Healy precaution, I hear. Ankle still dodgy, I guess. Pitch in great nick, I know. #LeinsterRugby

Jesus I hope that's just a precaution for Healy, he's so important for Ireland.

messy game. many knock-ons on both sides.

main positive so far: leinsters scrum and defense against the maul attempts.

Dragons giving away a ridiculous number of penalties.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 413 ✭✭mr. pleasant

    meh.

should have been lineout in dragons half after good lick by mcf.

funny to see the replay with the linesman almost falling over while trying to spaot where the ball lands - and still making the wrong call.
