Got an email today from the FAI that there would be a glamour friendly announced tomorrow at midday. With pre-release tickets for season ticket holders and vantage members.

I hope they don't. They already get enough help from the FAI as it is.

From what I've been told by the Club, tickets are €30 & €15 for kids, but kids tickets are limited

If it is the case that Rovers have organised this themselves, then I say fair play to them for showing some initiative - they're taking the Irish obsession with the EPL and using it to their advantage.

The FAI didn't exactly change their direction out of the goodness of their hearts either in that instance.

Well obviously, yeah, but they've still been forced to change their outlook. I don't know what the status of the Kentaro deal is now.

I know, I am gas. Silly old me for ever suggesting something untoward occurring. I mean Fran Gavin, the supposedly objective head of the domestic league, would never call Shamrock Rovers the model club? Furthermore, the FAI would never clear this model club of racist abuse, despite seemingly audible, video evidence to the contrary. Finally, Shamrock Rovers definitely aren't given oppertunities that are seemingly unavailable to other clubs.

"This game came about as a result of a tri-party agreement between Rovers, Liverpool and the FAI................... Rovers will earn a six figure sum from this high-profile exercise, which will compensate the LOI side for the absence of European football revenue from this years budget"
I know my club, and every other club who missed out on Europe this year will be looking forward to their six figure compensation too. I mean surely the FAI' will have to follow their own laws stating, "An Administrator must be committed to fairness in dealing with all involved in the game".

I think you're looking a bit far and wishfully into the journalist's term of compensation there..

But it obviously smacks of favouritism if the FAI brokered the deal.

I think the latitude afforded by the FAI to a number of Dublin clubs in the last decade to bend rules and nearly extinct themselves possibly amounts to a kind of favouritism that many smaller clubs wouldn't get.

Do you think Shels and Bohs were worrying about the rest of the clubs in the league when they were financially doping the league with wage bills in the millions?

Don't see what's to stop other clubs doing what Rovers did and actively seek out these opportunities. Like it or not, if a certain recent profile or anything (for example Europa league a few years ago or potential fan base) makes Rovers a bit more attractive for these things, what are the club supposed to do? Say no?

For example, Pats or Sligo are in a position to attract far bigger sponsorship than, say, Finn Harps or Bray, should the sponsorship money be limited or pooled with the latter clubs?

Or if Pats or Sligo hunted down a game like this through hard work and were offered it, they'd say, ah no, we don't want it unless you split the money with everybody else.

Must be a kick in the teeth for Limerick fans seeing as the FAI turned down their request to play Barcelona.

Bohs had a request to play united turned down as well, because they don't allow testimonials for amateur players.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

FAI might have nothing to do with Rovers' remuneration, moreso making sure they get their cut for allowing the game at the Aviva.

Bohs did get a friendly with "Liverpool" 5 years ago.

Given their current financial woes, the FAI are going to muscle in on big friendlies now, especially any in Landsdowne.

I already said earlier in the tread that if this came about entirely as a result of Shams using their own initiative, then fair play to them.

However, it now appears that the FAI were involved in some capacity.

Which still potentially represents a conflict of interest.

Nobody cared when they were reputedly pressured to guarantee Cork's wages in 2009, effectively influencing the title race, or consistently overlooked SCP anomalies giving some clubs an unfair advantage.

Like Bucko gave a shite about B teams 2 years ago, Or anybody else bothered to see if they could work with their local authority during the boom.

That's because the LOI model is wait until somebody else does it and then whine for a cut.

    Who's "nobody" in that sentence?

It's been fairly well documented that both Pats and Sligo floated the idea of B teams in the past but both were knocked back.

You're not honestly trying to suggest that nobody has thought to question the FAI's handling of affairs in the past? People are just having a go in this instance just because it involves Shams? Seriously?

I'd be questioning FAI involvement every bit as much if it were Sligo or Cork or whoever.

It would certainly seem that way.

Are people honestly saying in this instance - or in terms of the B Team - that Delaney sat down and thought how can we expressly do Shamrock Rovers a favour here?

These are the main & only gripes IMO, If the FAI had anything to do with the organisation of this friendly, which I've yet to see any evidence that they have.
