Indications are upwards, but one would wonder why merchants yards are empty.

18.6.12 small bags. €410 but would do 400 for upfront payment

    Can 335

    0.7.30 , €405

Was told not to purchase yet as prices likely to drop 5-10 tonne in next 2 weeks.

Can only tell u what I was quoted. To be fair it wasn't the manager but a young lad on the counter so was probably just quoting what was on the system.

I'd say your orobably buying a full truck loaf Mahoney do would be different price that qty I would be buying.

folks what's the long term forecast ?

got a few pallets in the yard left over from last year
most likely will be dealing with DG or Liffey Mills , waste of time pricing with Arrabawn (last 2 years)

Buy now or wait until needed? mid april ....would be paying cod or 30 days on a/c

Fertiliser prices should be well down. However the industry is very good at creating any aul excuse to slow or not fully pass on the price drop. However at this stage even they must be running out of excuses not to pass on meaningful cuts.

I'm guilty of that but it's out of some bit of loyalty to who I purchase off, everyone's bartering and wheeling and dealing skills differ as well as an ability to call a reps bluff on price ,a lot of them get commission on there sale so the more they think they can draw out of you they will ,I've pm details of prices I've been quoted to some here ,I won't publicly quote though .one thing for sure though is there is downward pressure on prices ,up from payement is a huge advantage as long as you use it to your advantage .good deals also for 30/60 days credit .all I'll give away is urea can be sourced for <350 ,18 6 12 380 and < and can 285 and <.not too worried this as I'm away with the boss in Killarney on a pre calving r&r blowout .no fert ordered yet but will move in next 10 days

MJ is on the ball here. I won't post price out of respect for the deal I've made.

6 thanks and not one price or source out of one of them ;)

I'd have no issue DM'ing a price to some posters

    Any prices yourself btw?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,141 ✭✭✭RightTurnClyde

To be honest, haven't priced anything yet. Been putting up a calf shed since Christmas, just finished now, but will start ringing next week. I'd normally have 28 ton in the yard at this stage, from the same supplier for the last 8 years. I've 5 missed calls from him this week, and I'm calculating 5€/ton per missed call. So what ever his starting price was I reckon I've shaved about €20-25€/ton off the opening bid :). We'll see next week
