I have a dislike for people

Yeah, fellow boards.ie they probably don't like me either.

Now that's out of the way let me give my thoughts.

I just don't like people. I can fake being nice for conversations in my job but I do my best to avoid any other conversation. People offer me nothing. I much prefer listening to brilliant music by the likes of Bob Dylan and reading the works of William Burroughs.

People are boring and I include myself in that. I suspect a lot of boardsies are of the same mindset.

The likes of Bob Dylan are gifted special people. Touched by something from another world.

The only thing special about those two were their managers.

People are great. If it wasn't for people I don't know what I'd do.

    Starve probably.

Then why do you come here seeking validation from other people if you hate them so?

Your dead right op, I too am only compatible with people like me, so I spend much of my time on my own, and very content with that

Is naming yourself after temazepam a nod to your sedative social effect to which you allude?

Not Dylan. He's very awkward in interviews and I'd feel uncomfortable trying to talk to him.

His poetry is enough to sustain me through hard times.

A lot of people are pretty crap in fairness. Some are alright. I'm deadly.

Poetry? Jesus wept, OP, to describe any of the depressing dirge spewed out by Bob Dylan as poetry is terrible. You might have an easier time if you stayed away from that stuff.

I feel the same way. Can't wait for people to stop talking to me. The majority take forever to tell a story or piece of information that could be conveyed in a sentece or two. Sitting in a bar and haveing to listen to strangers prattle on endlessly to each other about nothing just for the sake of having something to say.

    All people?you're writing everybody off?

I dislike an unhealthy amount of people myself, but I'm willing to give ones that I don't know a chance!

First poster, are you sure you're ok? Hating people isn't very useful, as there are seven billion of us. Without us you'd be shivering in a field somewhere and dying of toothache.

I recommend you talk to your friends, parents, anybody who'll listen - just talk about whatever you want, but talk nonetheless. And btw, the internet doesn't count as socialising.

People don't exist merely to offer you something btw.

Hmmm... rethinking that I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you mean in terms of mental stimulation. My advice: Too much introspection can weigh heavily on the mind/soul so you might want to find a hobby with some sort of menial/physical element where your brain can take the back seat. It can only be good for your mental health.

I think sometimes it's easier to say "I hate people" then to face the actual truth. I've done it myself plenty of times.

And the Internet doctors are in the house less than five minutes later. That's the thing about armchair psychiatrists, they're always wrong -

There is no such diagnosis as "aspergers syndrome" any more.

I find that I can like and get along with most people once I get talking to them. The funny thing is that complete strangers do my nut in for no good reason!

To paraphrase some comedian (If you can tell me who said this there's a toffee in it for you):

I'd be sitting at a bus stop and there would typically be other people there. I'd take one look at the chap next to me and just start thinking -

'Look at you, just standing there in your shoes. You're even wearing a hat you f*cking git, it's not even that cold out. Why don't you just piss off.'

And yer man is just there next to me, completely oblivious to the fact that I'm boiling with rage over his very existence. It's gas.

I can be friends with someone for a short period, and really enjoy their company during that time, but tend to get bored of them quite quickly. There comes a point after 2 or 3 months of knowing them, when they can give you no more enjoyment, you know everything about them and their outlook on life, you can pretty much predict everything they will do and say after a certain point, and thus my interest in them drops dramatically and the relationship breaks down.

In a nutshell- you prefer the folk revolution, Mexican rentboys and jabbing heroin in your sack.

On a serious note though, Burroughs was an interesting guy.

He said he dislikes and finds people boring. No where did he say anything about hate. The tone of your post insinuates he is somehow sick or depressed and should be socialising. You have no idea what the OP is talking about and your pseudo medical advice is insulting to say the least.

I hate everyone except people that have given me a reason not to hate them. I find that it saves me of any potential disappointment.
