Below are the standards required for a lift to successful.

All lifts must be accompanied by video evidence.

    Squat
Knee sleeves, wrist wraps and belts allowed.
Depth must be at least below parallel.

    Bench Press
Elbow sleeves, wrist wraps and belts allowed.
Bar must touch the chest before pressing up.
Hips must remain on the bench.

    Deadlift
Knee sleeves, wrist wraps, and belts allowed. No straps.
Hips and knees must be fully extended at the top of the lift with the lifter fully erect and shoulders back.
No supporting the bar on the legs or hitching.

    Snatch
Wrist wraps and belts allowed. No straps.
Bar must be lifted from the floor to overhead in one movement.
Bar must be fully locked out overhead with no pressing out.
Lifter must stand motionless at the top of the movement before lowering/dropping bar.

    Clean and Jerk
Wrist wraps and belts allowed. No straps.
Bar must be lifted from the ground to shoulder height in one movement.
Bar must jerked overhead with arms fully locked out with no pressing out.

    Power Clean
Wrist wraps and belts allowed. No straps.
Bar must be lifted from the ground to shoulder height in one movement.
Hips must not reach below parallel.

Ridley I deleted your post to keep the rules and board at the top but yes if a lifter breaks a pb and that pb makes it onto the board it will replace the old lift. No point having two or three lifts by the same person in the table. Things should work themselves out in time.

If anyone wants to change any rules let me know. I might be a bit fuzzy on some of the PL ones.

There's now a link in the useful threads sticky if anyone needs to find this.

    Good luck to everyone participating

    Power Clean: 124kg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1PpsxP7ZxU

Both the most recent lifts I have. Not sure of exact bodyweight on either, but I know it was <100kg, so lets say 99.99kg, even tho it was lower :)

    Retesting in a few weeks.

I'm testing on Saturday. If I've decent numbers I'll throw them up.

Throw them up anyway. Despite the post so far it really is supposed to be fun and you can always try beat them again.

Yeah, maybe PM me or Ed instead. I haven't specified the rules that much because this isn't competition standard and my view was that the rules were more a guide for people unfamiliar with what was ok or not eg squat depth, no hitching, pressing out. I'd prefer it stayed that way so as to be more inclusive. If the majority want to be very strict so be it but there are competitions people can enter for that.

I'll delete all rule comments by Sunday. After that, consider them set. Post some lifting damnit1

    Myself 65kg snatch @70. 86.65 sinclair. 80kg power clean, 80.15 sinclair.

    Great squat

Would your knees tracking in be an issue on all your squats? Obviously a PB isn't gonna be picture perfect. Your toes are pointing out a lot and it would require you to have exceptional mobility in order to keep your knees tracking over/outside your feet.

Disclaimer: I am not criticizing as I myself am woeful at squatting, and I am trying to rebuild my squat from scratch, so this is more me asking a question for my benefit.

    Thanks.

No, I've never really had any major knee valgus when I squat. I do think my right knee has a tendency to come in a little bit, I think this has to do with my right glute cos I have a bit of trouble with it. I don't get any knee injuries or pain so I think that's a good sign.

I don't think my toes a excessively pointed outward. I've tried the whole toes forward thing but it doesn't really suit me. Personally, I feel a lot of torque on my knees when I squat with my feet forward. The majority of people will have some sort of toe out stance so I don't put much emphasis on it tbh.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Giving this a bump. Anyone else got any lifts to submit? I think we could do with a few more people on the leaderboards.

I'm thinking of either Seniors or Leinsters or both. I'll have a better idea after this week as I am maxing on Friday. Once I see where I am I will set out a more definite plan (which will most likely involve millions of pulls).

    Some feedback on the thread:

    1) LuckyLlyods deadlift is incorrectly recorded as 100kg in the deadlift table.

    2) Wasn't there supposed to be a Powerlifting Total table too? i.e. fine that there are individual Squat/Bench/Deadlift records... but should also be one for Total.

    3) Same for the Oly Lifts... needs a Total table too.

    4) Include a link to the Wilks calculator in the Rules section. Some of them are slightly different depending on how long ago they were updated. Here is the latest from the IPF website: http://www.powerlifting-ipf.com/fileadmin/data/wilkscalc.htm

    5) More people need to submit stuff!

Here's my submission from a competition on Saturday. Bodyweight was 82.5kg.

    - Squat 155kg (wilks = 103.8345)
    - Bench 102.5kg (wilks = 68.66475)
    - Deadlift 172.5kg (wilks = 115.55775)
    - Total 430kg (wilks = 288.057)

    Video evidence: http://youtu.be/3ra3XiScb8c

Wilks and Sinclair calculators added to post #2.

I'm not going to add totals unless there's a demand. People can compete if they wish and the smaller number of categories is best for keeping this going in my opinion.

If there's a big demand for totals I'll add them.

    Keep 'em coming though.

I just recorded a 2 rep deadlift last night. I'll probably record a 1RM next week if you can hold on till then? or will I throw up the 2 rep?

Put up the 1 rep when you've done it imo. Half the year left!

    +1.

There are heaps of videos floating around in logs on both the fitness and strength forum. Good if they could be submitted here, along with from people who don't keep logs... so we can see how we do/don't stack up agianst each other.

Here's a squat from April this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,434 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

@Dylbert, Clean High Pulls focussing on a really tight bar path solved the issue for me. You want to pull the bar into yourself on the first pull and then have shoulder and elbows back and up when you explode from the hips.

If you pause at 10 seconds you'll see that you never finish pulling the bar into you and are already starting to extend upwards from the shoulders. Nothing you can't fix imo.

Cheers, good to hear. only one of my friend use the gym and the only time he uses a barbell is to 'hit the bicep from a different angle'! so it's great to have this website for solid advice and some benchmarks...and now some competition!! be a while till I'm pulling 210 all the same though!
