I was just watching highlights of last years All Ireland finals. Still get goosebumps and im not from either of the counties... i have to say that its the greatest game on earth. i don't see why its not more popular..

    Would you agree?
If not what sport is better?

Possibly one of the most skillful and I wouldn't even be a fan

Any sport is better then, a bunch of lads with sticks chase a rubber ball.

  • massively skilled sport but none of us are subjective when calling it the "greatest game ever" i would say there is no greatest game ever personally

Why does the GAA kit have to be so skimpy?
Can GAA kits no be more like modern soccer kits?

I got picked up once by the gardai when I was a young lad and one of them actually advised me that if I was getting trouble in the estate again to just carry a hurley with me because "you can give him a hiding and it's not a weapon ".

Which seems curiously apt for gaelic sports.

    why?

    I just think its boring.

Or the Dublin/Cork semi-final from 2013 until around the 60th minute. It might not be "the greatest game ever" but for me it's right up there.

Nah its played by a tiny amount of people in the world in comparison to football, rugby, tennis, basketball etc.If it was the greatest game ever a lot more folk would play it.

Plus the GAA are in charge of it.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 165 ✭✭Baze

No, of course not.. Football* is.

*Not talking about the "football" where they play with a prolate spheroid and call it a 'ball' and where handling it isn't against the rules.

Actually Surprised it never took off in America, has everything the Yanks love about sport

    Big hits
    Fierce competitors
    High scoring games
    End to end action

but do you not think thats whats so great about it. its ours, its our culture. its Irish, and lets face it the GAA is a great organisation... just paid for their massive stadium. far superior to Soccer and Rugby

In your opinion. In my opinion, "soccer" (football to me) is more enjoyable. I appreciate the skill needed for top-level hurling, but there's no "best" sport.

thats an isolated case you have to take into account every sport in the world and be unbiased and take into account that you know the intricacies of hurling

I don't like it, as a spectator you can't even see the ball, i attended one game, nicky rackard cup final 07 which was a load of drivel, i blame cu chullainn for it

“I'm always suspicious of games where you're the only ones that play it.” –
Jack Charlton nailed it with this quote about hurling imo.

You'd just have loads of lads knocking it over from miles out. It'd be incredibly boring.

With the aid of €114m of government funding over the years.

And far superior in your opinion.

Grow up, you said in your opening post,
Would you agree or what sport is better?

I took the first option and disagreed.

i dont see how it being "ours" makes it the greatest game ever would be irrelevant to say kiwis

also what makes croke park better than the likes of the nou camp and the maracana

I enjoy hurling but like everything else, you have to have a variety.

I watched the Super Bowl live end to end this year and I thought it was class, it has renewed my interest in the NFL in a big way!
