    Premier League
    Britannia Stadium
    Referee: Neil Swarbrick

    Live on Setanta Sports 1

    Team News

Stoke - John Guidetti and Peter Odemwingie have been brought in to ease the burden on Peter Crouch, and the latter will probably continue on the wing after making his debut in the 1-0 defeat to Sunderland in midweek.

Alongside him in midfield, Wilson Palacios could be restored to fill the void left by the suspended Steven N'Zonzi, sent off against the Black Cats, while Hughes will choose between Charlie Adam and Stephen Ireland to be the creative influence. Robert Huth is nearing fitness, but unlikely to start.

Man United - Marouane Fellaini has returned to training following wrist and back problems but did not make the bench for Cardiff, a game which Michael Carrick also missed due to an ankle injury.

Wayne Rooney is likely to be restored to the Red Devils starting lineup at the Britannia Stadium and Moyes may try to find room for him, Van Persie, Mata and young starlet Adnan Januzaj in his XI, although the recent form of Danny Welbeck, rested against Cardiff, gives him another option.

Stoke Squad From; Begovic, Sorensen, Shawcross, Wilson, Pieters, Cameron, Muniesa, Shotton, Whelan, Adam, Palacios, Ireland, Assaidi, Arnautovic, Walters, Crouch, Guidetti, Odemwingie.

Man United Squad From; De Gea, Lindegaard, Rafael, Smalling, Evans, Jones, Evra, Buttner, Valencia, Fellaini, Fletcher, Giggs, Cleverley, Young, Kagawa, Januzaj, Mata, Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck, Van Persie.

I can see this one being a comfortable 2 or 3 nil win, Stoke are on such a poor run and United seem to be picking up their tempo at the moment.

Mata with all 3 goals :pac:

Mata, Rooney and RVP all start according to MUTV.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,785 ✭✭✭killwill

Hope to see Rooney and RVP on the score sheet today. Cant wait to see Mata again. Hopefully he provides the linkup play between Fellaini/Carrick and the attackers.
Super excited to see how they gel!

    Raf injured?

    Thought Carrick was out?

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

Subs: Valencia, Januzaj, Fletcher, Welbeck, Hernandez, Lindegaard, Rafael

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,836 ✭✭✭✭Pudsy33

Lingard on the bench and no Kagawa, hmmm

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,573 ✭✭✭✭yabadabado

that's excellent if Carrick is available ,thought he was out for a few weeks.
    Wonder why Rafael isn't starting.

Kagawa being saved to win us the champions league

    My bad!

I thought Carrick was supposed to be out for a month!

Young on the right wing and Mata on the left? I like it if that's the case.

    Pity there's no Rafael.

A draw would be a great result for both.

    What?

Why isn't Fletcher on there instead of Cleverley.. And Rafa dropped because of his recent drop in performance? or tactical...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,894 ✭✭✭Nolars

    4-1 to utd :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,369 ✭✭✭LostBoy101

I reckon it's a tactical decision that Raf isn't starting. They need height in the defence to prevent Crouch from getting a header inside the box.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,087 ✭✭✭markc1184

I'd say Moyes has probably gone for a bit of height in defence and that's why Raf isn't starting.

1-3 imo. Hopefully Stoke will nick something, but they have been rubbish lately, so I can't see it.

like this line-up. Ashley Young might get some decent form back with this team around him.

    0-2 United or more hopefully

A draw would be a terrible result for United.

Passing quality is poor from both teams

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,068 ✭✭✭yermandan

Mata, Rooney and RVP's class apart so obvious and shown by their first touch. Magic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,369 ✭✭✭LostBoy101

Passing quality is poor from both teams

Slight wind, it doesn't help that both teams are long ball merchants too. Cleverley being hung out to dry against the midfield as usual...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,205 ✭✭✭Lucas Hood

I don't understand footballers sometimes. You know you've a player needing to come off why not put the ball out of play let someone come on for him .

We could have easily conceded there a min ago.

Much happier with Smalling at cb, the lad just isn't a rb.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,982 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

    Wilson all up on RVP

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,136 ✭✭✭✭Rayne Wooney

Mata coming centre looks most dangerous, same as Kagawa this season

    God I hate watching Stoke.
