Which Gym? (South Dublin)

Joining a gym this weekend but just wanted to post here first to see if anyone can offer opinions on the gyms I'm considering. I live in Rathfarnham and would be going in the evenings so would have to be relatively close to home.

The 3 gyms I'm considering are Carlisle, Ben Dunne Sandyford and FlyeFit in Ranelagh.

I was a member in Carlisle and while I found the facilities quite good, it was packed every single evening and there would be queue's for the benches, machines, etc. Also found the staff there to be generally unfriendly and unhelpful, but put it down to "you get what you pay for".

I have no experience with Ben Dunne's new place in Sandyford or FlyeFit - anybody have opinions on either of them?

    Thanks

Was in Ben Dunne's Sandyford and if you can only go in the evenings, it sounds exactly the same as you describe Carlisle.

Friend of mine went to Flyefit (not sure if it was Ranelagh) recently on a free trial and said that it felt like being stuck in a tiny cage as all the equipment was crammed closely together. No idea about how busy it was.

This place is opening soon and looks good, but is more expensive. Member cap too, so won't be as bad in the evenings.

Ben Dunne in Sandyford is jammed between around 5 and 730pm.
My brother uses a gym opposite the cinema in Dundrum TC and says it's not too bad in the evenings, I think it's Rock Fitness, but not sure on that.

I'll forget about Sandyford in that case. I'll give Rock Fitness a call and see what it costs to join. Would be the handiest option for me location-wise.

    Thanks lads.

Do you know, if it is jammers in the evening?
Might buy a month membership to check it out.

Other option for OP as you are in Rathfarnham..The Gym in Rathgar would be convenient enough.

Does anyone have an experience of the Maldron Hotel gym on Cardiff lane?

Not at all jammers - busy but never annoyingly so. Fantastic place to work out and they have a great range of equipment.

    Interested in this also.

Do they have proper squat/power racks and do they allow heavy deadlifting?

    Thanks

Not only do they allow it, they make competing powerlifters out of tv3 presenters
