It'd be nice if Catholic religious orders kicked in a few bob.

Everyone feel free to copy and paste link. I was young single girl when I had my daughter in 1994, if she was born even 5 years earlier odds are the nuns and social workers would have forced me to give her up for adoption. Funny enough we managed just fine and she is now a smart beautiful caring and intelligent young woman. There is someting wrong in a country where the state wont move out of the clutches of the church. We need to move on , please sign and pass on.

Signed and shared. Anyone else shocked that adoptees don't have an automatic right to this information?

Agree, my partner is adopted and because his birth mother does not want to be contacted we have no medical information for her... we have met his birth father and he filled us in as much as he could but he's not 100% on things.

No. Some people who gave up children for adooption only did so on the understanding there would be no information given at all.

I think everyone has the right to know their medical history though. I don't think someone should have to give up the right to that.

Signed, and going to share on Facebook too. I'm an adoptee, as is my brother (different birth parents) from the late 80's and early 90's. Neither of us have any idea of the circumstances our birth mother's were in and haven't made the decision to search for them yet. But we (and they) should be able to more easily than is possible currently.
