Switching Food Around

    Hi,

I usually eat 6 meals a day... i mix it up, but usually it is along the following lines:

    0730: protein shake (1 scoop)
    1000: porridge and nuts
1300: 2 chicken breasts and salad (cook in work)
1600: yogurt, fruit and mixed nuts
1800: large protein shake (water, 2 scoops, spinach, mixed nuts, peanut butter, banana, 1 table spoon manuka honey)
    1830: GYM
    2000: fish and salad

I am now going to switch some of these meals around as i HATE cooking in work everyday and almost dread lunch time.

I am thinking of having the large protein shake, which i usually take before the gym, for lunch instead, however i think i need to add more to it to make it more of a meal... can anyone suggest anything to add to it?

Here is my new plan, just in case it helps:

    0730: eggs
    1000: porridge and nuts
1300: large protein shake (water, 2 scoops, spinach, mixed nuts, peanut butter, banana, 1 table spoon manuka honey)
1600: yogurt, fruit and mixed nuts
1800: chicken or fish salad (cook at home)
    1830: GYM
    2000: protein shake (1 scoop)

Thanks in advance for your help

Why can't you just cook the chicken or fish at home the night before and bring it in with you?

I've tried this, and i hate the taste of re-heated food and i don't like it cold (i know... very fussy :-)

I really really enjoy my large shake in the evening so i'd love to have this at lunch instead, but feel i need to get more of a meal into me then too...

Cook it in the evening. Neither chicken breast or fish take long to cook.

If that doesn't work for you then something is going to have to give between cooking at work at lunch time or reheating food.

It doesn't really matter when you eat, what matters is your total. Take the shake whenever you feel like it.

Ok cool, i just find it is easier to cook at home in the evening vs work (full kitchen at home VS George Foreman in work)

I take it you are cutting?

if you are gonna do anything at work do the eggs - scrambled on some multigrain toast

Thanks, i wasn't hoping to cut just yet... i was hoping to cut slowly over the next few months.

I take it from your comment you don't think i am eating enough?

Looking to hold size but looking to get more defined...

Chicken is so dry when cooked on a George Foreman, it becomes hard to eat day in day out... i need to look up some other meals and mix them up more.

i find it fine when i spice it up with BBQ seasoning or cajun etc
but recently I eat way more tuna "on the go" than chicken
at least 2 tins a day

    **look up some healthy marinades

That's the exact problem i have... is there such a think as healthy marinades

marinades are comically healthy, since you wont be eating most of it.

You guys really love to overthink all off this don't you.

    1/2 cup plain yogurt
    1/2 tsp chili powder
    1/2 tsp turmeric
    1/2 tsp ground cumin
    1/2 tsp ground coriander
    1/2 tsp fresh ginger (minced)
    1 tsp minced garlic
rub if over your chicken, put in a bowl or freezer bag, let sit for time. Cook chicken. Discard or reuse remaining marinade.

    1/2 cup oilve oil
    1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
    1/4 cup white wine vinegar
8 large garlic cloves (coarsely chopped)
    1 tsp turmeric
    1 tbsp paprika
    1/3 tsp cayenne
    1/2 tsp cumin (ground)
    pepper
    salt

    Cool, thanks guys...

What is your view on paprika... is it a bad (health wise) seasoning to use?

It's not bad, per se, but it will make you feel more hungary...

rearranging the order does little. They are all pretty similar nutritionally.
You you are basically swapping one of the a chicken/fish salads for eggs. It will be around the same in terms of protein/cals so will change nothing.

The large shake is the biggest meal by far, maybe 600 cals. You don't need to add anything here.

just so you know: No paprika, or any other natural spice, is not unhealthy.

In the quantities that it is eaten it is negligible and most spices have healthy effects including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, as well as helping with general health.

unless you have a specific medical condition like IBS or type 2 diabetes you can pretty much go nuts with spices.

Good ones to consider are turmeric, any of the capsicum family; paprika, chilli powder etc, garlic, coriander, Cinnamon, thyme, parsley all have notable health benefits, but the list is all encompassing, try all spices most do something to promote your health.
