Knew they'd play a big gig this summer! Been waiting for the announcement! Looking forward to this!

Is it gonna be outdoors or in a marquee? Would much rather them in the Aviva, or doing a couple of nights in the O2. Feckin Marlay Park.

Deadly - I've never seen them live so this will be a real treat

It will be outdoor!! They were always going to play an outdoor gig here on that weekend given that they are also headlining TITP!!

    Unbelievable live act.

Sit yourself down for an hour and a half and watch their Glastonbury 2013 headline set. Quality!!

Some really good highlights from Oxegen aswell on YouTube.

Also, great support line up. Really compliment each other. I saw Miles Kane support Stone Roses in London last year, fantastic!!

Pretty safe to assume Phoenix Park will not be used this year.

I'm guessing the reason to moving to Marlay Park is that MCD will save a wagon load of cash given that Longitude is the following week.

All the main set ups like stages, lighting, fencing, flooring, bars, security areas etc can all be put in place for the Arctic Monkeys (and probably a gig on the Friday and Sunday also) and remain in place for Longitude the weekend after with only some minor works needed to prepare the site between events!!

The venue is superior in every way, car park buses all very easy to work its right beside the M50 so no delay once your out on the road ,it's the best venue in dublin

Any hotels recommendations near Marley Park?

    Agreed.

Any idea on capacity? I'm having a guess at around 35,000.

Suppose it's a case of wait and see who else gets announced for Marlay Park at this stage. Personally, I think Foo Fighters would be perfectly suited to the venue if capacity was approx 35,000.

Marlay Park is easily accessible from Dublin City Centre so you will have no problems. Personally, I would stay city centre and get the bus (or special concert bus) to the venue.

If you want something closer, check out Bewleys Leopardstown, Stillorgan Park Hotel, The Beacon Hotel

Ya it's 35,000 to 40,000 depending on which way they face the stage ,it was perfect a few years ago for Metallica the stage at the bottom of a slight hill and 40,000 capacity whereas the Kasabian show 2 years ago had the stage up the hill splitting the venue into an odd shape , foos would be awesome but had to say as they won't have an album out by then but that didn't not stop them playing witnness 2002 , looking forward to arctic monkeys now thou

I like the Arctic Monkeys but its getting a bit annoying that Miles Kane is on the Bill every time they play a big gig.

Absolutely buzzing for this concert, love everyone playing and was hoping for the smaller ones to be announced on the longitude line up. Anyone find 61 relatively cheap for such a great line up?

Like an above poster said, sick of Miles Kane been on every one of their bills. Couldn't stand him when he supported Kasabian at O2 few years back.

Peoples saying this is cheap.. AM are incredibly meh live.. Like boring almost.. Almost 70 Quid is very dear..

Love Arctic Monkeys, love Jake Bugg, I like the few songs i have heard from Miles Kane! Are Royal blood good? I need to check out their songs!

How are AM in anyway "meh" on stage?? superb live act, not mad about miles kane but enjoyed him at the picnic last year pretty sure he was the first act I watched that weekend.

I'll probably be paying this a visit anyway, gonna be a busy summer as far as going to gigs and festivals is concerned! :D

Seen then twice, seemed Turner would rather be anywhere than on that stage..

Two of the most boring gigs i've ever been to, but i may go to this for Jake Bugg

I think they are pretty good live, but its a matter of opinion I suppose. I saw them at picnic and really enjoyed it. The reason Miles Kane is always supporting them is because him and Alex are good friends, they were in The Last Shadow Puppets together. I quite like his music too so I'm happy enough with that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,690 ✭✭✭✭siblers

Last time I saw AM was at The Ambassador supporting Maximo Park before their debut album even came out. They were brilliant that night, i'm sure other people from here were at it.

Amazing band live, I've seen them 3 times in various sized venues, all cracking gigs. Just because Alex Turners doesn't interact that much with the crowd doesn't make them a poor live act.

I've been waiting far too long to see them live, can't wait. :D

I know that, I just never really felt he cares much about beoing opn stage/sounds as good as he could..

Only my opinion though, and I'll probably still end up giving them money to seem them if not here then at reading:)

That's just the way he is, comes across like that in interviews as well. I don't think he takes himself seriously, hence the buddy holly inspired character he's channeling lately on stage.

I can see how they can be quite boring to some people but to be honest they've been like that from early times but the tunes and the crowds carried them so to speak. For me it was only until Humbug came out in 2009 that their live weaknesses became apparent. Good album but in they live shows they seemed to do their best to kill any momentum through bad setlists and alternative versions of older songs to 'fit' the darker sound. Thankfully they still produce great stuff that can guarantee a great set so I really look forward to this and hopefully it's sunny.

I will admit that the new album is very good , You can really feel the Josh Homme/Queens influences coming out . As people have said royal blood could be a big hit next year and Miles Kane was great at EP and hopefull just as good in the Academy in March

Homme's backing vocal on Knee Socks is amazing. It's crazy how something that is just a backing vocal can just nail a song!

Humbug, which I loved and everyone seemed to hate, is basically Arctic Monkeys doing a QOTSA impression!

Yea i felt Humbug was them trying to impersonate Queens way to much , while AM is good balance of Queens influence with Arctic Monkeys themselves

the 6 quid isn't booking fee, it's ticketmasters processing fee.
    ticket will be approx 68

9am a terrible time for ticket sales for anyone working. I know it's standard enough but why not 8?

Anyone any idea how long these will take to sell out?
