Kinda personal issue from sports perspective here.

the day i feared has come.
It's pretty clear one of my Martial arts or gym has to go.

Reasons are probably cliched - I'm 36 , gf, kids, work.

And basically I'm awol too much in the evenings which I can accept. I got away with it by training weights at lunch but that's not an option anymore.
Training at 6am isn't when gym opens - as my bus is at 7.

So essentially I need to pick one and retire the other.
I'm quite sad at this - I'd siding with picking gym cos its' more flexible time wise and weights is kinda my first love.

But I'll miss the martial arts stuff a lot , I'll miss the aspect of having a skill, sparring and knowing how to throw a few digs if you need too is never a bad thing.

I could do a bit of both but I'm kinda afraid of that leading to a situation of doing both badly.
Anybody make that decision or similar decision before?

I'm be interested in experience and factors that went for a particular decision and any regrets or subsequent reversals of that decision.
    or anything.

Is a home gym (bench, cage, weights etc.) an option.

I have a busy schedule in terms of work, looking after relatives, long commute - if I didnt have all the gear I need to train hard at home, I probably wouldn't train at all.

    I had a similar dilemma.

For me it was between kickboxing and weightlifting. Wouldn't have been feasible to do kickboxing at home by myself. So as I had built a home gym in Ireland at one stage. I'd just do it again here. Started with a bench and some dumbbells. Then got a good Olympic bar and some plates. Finally added a rack for squats and barbell bench/military press etc. Had a welder I know help me with modifications to keep costs down. Picked up second hand plates online for quite cheap. Got some kettlebells too and another barbell. Well under a thousand dollars to get set up. So probably 700 euro or so. Just look up used and second hand sites.

    Thanks Guys

home gym does sound like answer but space is at a premium already.
saving for extention at moment which isn't for a gym :(
