I just wanted to know how expensive it would be, I would be racing in minimax so how much would a semi competitive kart be? :)

Have a search for previous karting threads. Your biggest expenses are going to be the ongoing ones. Entry fees, testing fees, transport, fuel etc etc. Tyres also when you get competitive and need fresher rubber.
There's an open day coming up at Tulleyallen I believe, would be worth checking that out too.

How expensive would it be to convert a rotax max to a minimax?

No idea. The most expensive part might be getting it resealed after the parts are swapped. But if you're only planning practicing/testing at first you don't really need the seal. Come to think of it, you don't "need" it to get started racing either.

If you're on facebook look up Irish Karting Club and you'll be able to connect with people, go to a race and decide what's best for you.
