Was just having a look through the card for fairyhouse tomorrow and one that jumped out at me was ZEKARYA 3.45.
I watched his race at Limerick a few weeks ago and he travelled strongly and looked the winner before falling 2 out. The Hogan affect must also be taken into account so I think the money could come for this one. Just had a bet at 11/1 with PP and suddenly he's 8/1. Didn't know 50 quid could have such an effect :)
    Good luck all.

I know it's the horse racing forum, but I will be backing Federer in the tennis tomorrow. 10/11 with Paddy Power and money back if Federer wins the first set but loses the match. Federer has been playing very well and I think that Andy's back surgery layoff should mean he doesn't play at 100%.

    That looks a great bet.

Surely Moss Street wins a woeful race at Fairyhouse tomorrow hard held if he is trying. I've a feeling that Plinth form could be very smart

In the same race Jody McGarvey has his only ride of the day. It paid to notice that fact in Thurles last Thursday. Might be worth a speculative punt even if the horse doesn't look much. Looks like a good apprentice who has someone picking his rides carefully.

In fairness he rode two at Thurles, had one ride at Fairyhouse and Naas at the weekend, one a 66/1 shot

Just seen that on PP. Not sure if it takes much money to go from 11s to 6s. Might just be the Dennis Hogan effect. Think he'll go close though.

Sorry for my ignorance but whats the Dennis hogan effect?

Waiting for a price but Miss Mardan in the bumper is max bet material for me if she's anywhere near the 2/1 mark.

Maybe a small interest in Ted Spread in the class 2 in Lingfield at 14s.

Take note thatGrendisar in that same race(2.30) was he horse who's jockey was done for not ensuring best possible position in a hot enough race a few weeks back. Travelled oh so sweetly into that one. Not sure about the step up though so not mad about the prices on offer atm.

Trainer has a reputation of landing a gamble. If there is a few bob for his horses, the bookies tend to panic and overreact and cut the odds by a few points.

Thats my take on it anyway.

My mistake, should have checked his stats before posting. Still, his mounts seem to outrun their odds. Just strikes my untrained eye as a decent apprentice.

Low Key,Indus Valley,Eye Of The Tiger and Seven Summits all have two things in common. They are been smashed in the betting and all were once owned by Barney Curley Anne Stokell gamble the other day should have been picked up here.It was backed last year from 25/1 to 6/4 and was withdrawn at the start with owner suspended with horse for a year I think. He has given all his horses to Stokell so watch out over coming weeks.

As a rule I never do doubles etc but spotted this last night and did 5e win yankee at far better odds than currently. My luck is in because I got the Jackpot at Wolves the other day for 16e investment got 1,200 back.

Didn't Curley snap 1mln+ with 4 horse L15 couple yrs back, 3 won. There was a similar plunge a yr later, all well beaten so its difficult to 2nd guess what's going on

Cool, well no luck placing any multiples online at any other price than sp so I'll sit this one out.

Yep. All settled though if memory serves me correct. Should be fun to see how they get on.

Only Barney Curly could get a Group2 winning horse down to a rating of 56 in 3 years.

Wont be around Friday so Keep on eye out for Gold Falcon at Dundalk.Nearly pulled a nice touch last week[someone said he was 40/1] I got 25/1 to 16/1.Have been watching a horse all year and he is dropped so far in the handicap it is scary but he runs in Gold Falcons race and he could open at very attractive odds too.

I had 1 bet today when the market opened up before the ridiculousness insued it was Logical Approach in this next race. Thought he was the most likely winner in a horrendous race. If he is second to this Curly yoke i might just vomit a little.

I wish everyone of them came trailing last. What's horrible the bookies or the non trying owners and trainers out to fill their pockets. Imagine having backed one of these non triers last time out and watch them bolt up today. The sport is so fixed it beggars belief

I'm delighted that these Barney Curley coups show the sport up for what it really is at the lower level: a game of cat-and-mouse between bookies and owners/trainers/punters. At gaff tracks (particularly on the all-weather), horses aren't running to win prize money but to land bets and form is only a minor factor to consider in your punting strategy. It's more important to spot horses that have been running with "the handbrake on", with the jockey taking it easy and the trainer having every excuse going for the horse's poor form. Then, when the time is right and no other trainer has "booked" the race with one of their "improvers", the money goes down (the most important factor in the punting decision) and you see what the horse is really capable of. The handbrake then goes on again for another (minimum) 6 months.

I'm no genius but I realised long ago that the ordinary punter, with no inside info, has no chance of winning on these low-grade races and is only subsidising the bookies for the days when they, very occasionally, have to pay out to those who know what they're doing! I hope Barney takes them for millions!!
