I give potential trolls the benefit of the doubt most of the time. Do they have feeligns? Well, is insecurity a feeling?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Trolls are human, but when they come on support threads for depression and tell people to commit suicide, I really wish they weren't.

Of course trolls have feelings. All of God's flowers do.

Things like telling a depressed person to kill themselves isn't trolling, though, it's just being a complete fcuking tool.

Trolling is much more than that. It's about making ridiculous statements that people would never agree with, in a seemingly intelligent enough manner that you can convince people to agree with you.

around here you get labelled a " troll " for going against the prevailing idealogy

if your on the banned list , your labelled a troll for re regging , its one thing being banned for re regging , its another to dismiss someone as a " troll " for having re regged , a re reg may have perfectly valid points in spite of being a re reg

Would I be going out on a crazy limb here suggesting the possibility that you're a re-reg?

It's not the argument madde that labels someone a troll most of the time, it's the argueement not made.

I've seen a lot of strange opinions expressed, but with backup and debate. Fair enough. But when someone wanders in, throws out the opinion without any form of, or wish for, a debate; and then disappears, then you have to wonder what they came into a debate reason for, if not to troll.

The re-reg should not be re-regging, period.

Sometimes it's mildly amusing but it just seems so....exhausting. ...to go to that effort especially the ones with more than one account.

Nothing wrong with taking up a position that's against the prevailing ideology as long as you sincerely believe it. Most trolls just take up an anti position because they know it will piss people off.

No we do not. That's why we troll, we feed off the misery and anger of others.

Not really, no. It's more about making statements that people will disagree with and then they sit back and watch people have a sh*t fit trying to argue their side. Getting people to agree wouldn't be much fun for them at all. Now, if they get one person on their side and there's two of them fighting against the grain - better yet - but that's not their motive.

It's why I rarely bother my arse arguing on the Internet. I just pretend everyone is a troll, makes it easier not to get wound up :P as soon as I feel myself getting pissed off: *unfollow thread*!

agreed , " re regging " is a heinous crime which should result in the guilty being publically tried and shamed , forget about milosovic or Charles taylor , boards.ie re reg merchants are monsters beyond description

Some trolling is a laugh, other trolling seems kinda sinister though.

Agreed with Princess Consuela. People who throw out any auld shyte with absolutely nothing to support it always use that line "You're only calling me a troll because my view is a contrarian one" when they've actually said something really inflammatory and disingenuous, not provided an iota to back it up, and gotten really snarky at people who question them - on a discussion forum.

And the reverse: telling people they have terminal cancer (and also having another account as the cancer patient's "grieving sister") in order to drum up sympathy, for the craic (happened on another forum a few months back).

Can't be right in the head.

Maybe not by you, but it is seen that way by the majority, and no, I don't have statistics or a pie chart, doesn't mean i'm a troll!!!

someone like steve jobs would be considered a primo troll if he posted on here

trolling "starting arguments or upsetting people"

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet)

Application of the term troll is subjective. Some readers may characterize a post as trolling, while others may regard the same post as a legitimate contribution to the discussion, even if controversial
