Tobacconists

Why are there none in Ireland? You see them all over the place abroad. Especially in Spain, Portugal, Italy etc. There are some fancy tobacconists in Dublin selling pipes and cigars, but none like you see in the likes of Spain, Portugal and a lot of mainland Europe which sell actual cigarettes, like JPB etc.

    Just a thought.

Why don't we have cigarette vending machines on the street like they have in some European countries, like Germany where you can scan your government ID / passport / bank card which reads your age and gives you smokes.

Would you support the vending machines or tobacconists here?

I dont know what the margins are like over there but a packet of cigarettes here is only worth about 60c to a shop. You would have to sell a lot of smokes to pay for a premises. So its not viable.

As for the vending machines, O'Reilly is trying to stop smoking so not a hope in hell and as for the scanning of the ID, whats to stop a kid using their dads ID?
