Cant find any threads on this... This must be the biggest story at the moment. Its such an odd case, its just not adding up. When I first heard my immediate reaction was "custody dispute" now I don't know what to think...

Freezing outside aparantly they were gritting the roads. Poor kid why haven't they found him yet with all the manpower and resources they have?

Too many things about the story don't make sense, a 3 year old letting himself out? Not being at nursery all week? Not sleeping in the room he normally shared with his twin sister that night?

Cold but who cares? I mean really?

How many children have been killed worldwide since this one has gone missing?!

I think theyre being very cagey with what theyre saying or not saying. As a mother of a 2.5 year old I don't buy for a minute that he got up, put a coat, shoes & gloves on & got out of a 1st floor flat. And all without the mother & 4 other siblings hearing anything. I find it strange too that there is no sign of the mother, thinking back to other high profile missing children the parents are usually all over the news begging for help to find the child..

last seen in his coat its hard enough to get a pair of shoes to stay on a kid at that age

So just because lots of other children have died, people aren't allowed to be concerned about the welfare of this one?
    Great logic.

As a father of two you kids one slightly older than the missing boy I'm concerned full stop,

Definitely doesn't add up especially when the police asked witnesses who had actually seen the young lad in the in the previous 24 hours ,

No sighting on CCTV which apparently is installed in the apartment blocks in the estate

3 yo sneeks out without making a sound and apparently opens a heavy reenforced glass and steel door that adults say is difficult to open

It's very odd. Is there a father present?

....as sometimes the begging parents have been in some way involved, I wouldn't read much into it either way.

Why single this one child out? Is his life more important than others? How many more children have been reported missing in Scotland within the last 24 hours.. I'd love to see that number.

From the bits I've read the father doesn't live in the home & is from Pakistan (which is why I though custody dispute immediately)

What a stupid, ignorant and frankly disgusting thing to say about a missing 3 year old child.

To answer your rhetorical question: I don't know, but it doesn't detract from the fact a helpless child is missing, possibly in grave danger, while his parents go out of their mind with worry.

Something tells me you haven't the balls to say something like that to the parents face.

So missing children shouldn't be reported on?

Sorry I just don't care, it doesn't affect me at all and there is much, much worse happening throughout the world right now.

When the story first broke yesterday morning I hoped it was the father that had taken Mikaeel rather than a pervert. The lesser of two evils. Now, with the new information about the child not attending playschool so far this year and police Scotland mentioning that his disappearance May be the result of a criminal act, I sadly feel that this story will have a tragic end.

All the apartment blocks have CCTV at each entrance. If the child, or anyone else for that matter had been spotted, the police would either eliminate them from inquiries or, due to the urgent nature, issue appeals. They haven't done this.

I wonder when was the last time Mikeaal was seen by someone other than a family member? I hope my bad feeling is incorrect. Every time I see that sweet little boys photo, I can't help but ask him out loud "where are you?"

The fact that there is CCTV at the entrance would surely rule in or out a lot, did he leave alone or with someone or not at all... The press conferences I have seen they don't seem to want to answer any questions on the CCTV...

I don't see how? I don't care about certain threads, so i don't post in them.

This is an interesting case, and a heartbreaking one for many. My son is 3 years old and I would be out of my mind with worry if he went missing :(

It's a view that is unnecessary to share on the thread and is just dragging the thread off topic in a needless argument. Now please, keep to the topic

Apparently the child had been ill. What i dont understand there is why the mother wasn't checking on him through the night.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 563 ✭✭✭wdmfapq4zs83hv

You would have to think that this is very unlikely to be a stranger abduction (and those are very rare) as a stranger abducting a child is not going to stop to get his coat & shoes (or even know where to find them) If the child left with his coat & shoes it sounds like someone who cared for the child took him outside. Or someone moved the clothes for some other reason.

Can understand this to be fair to the mother, Ive had days when my kids are sick where I have been absolutely exhausted by the end of the day & gone straight to bed same time as the kids & slept through. Now not if it was something serious but for things like colds (which is apparently what he had) I do think though its odd that he hasn't been at nursery for so long. I suppose the police will be trying to get a last confirmed sighting of him from someone outside the family

They keep saying Wednesday night when put to bed by the mother. But surely they would have to be looking for an independent sighting by someone outside the family. I'm sure that would be standard procedure. So far the only sighting outside the family seems to be at the nursery before Christmas

That's what I thought. Seems like it's not conclusive exactly how long he's been missing for.

There has to be CCTV footage of him at some stage since then

I actually really feel for all the people out there searching in bad weather IF it comes out that he has been missing for a while or that someone knows something & hasn't said

True, CCTV is everywhere these days. Unless he has been indoors since Christmas he has to be on CCTV somewhere

It certainly is, as you said unless he has been indoors since christmas, but surely some people other than the family would have been in the house in the near 3 weeks since christmas.
