Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia and other similar phobias

I suffer from Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia ..and it scares the bejaysus out of me.

Have done ever since I was around 14.

I wish I only had funny anecdotes regarding it, but many of them unfortunately are not funny at all.

Without mentioning some of the more serious ones, have had bad news from numbers with lots of 6s, cars have crashed into me with numerous 6s in the reg, bought concert tickets from a guy with three 6s in his email and they scanned as duplicates on entry, jacket was stolen while seating in seat Seat 66, Row F (F is the 6th letter of the alphabet) and won €666 on the horses, bought a laptop with the money and dropped it down a flight of stairs the following week. Was in Eddie Rockets one night and asked for a Beer and before I knew what it would be, they had poured me a glass of Route 66 Beer. When I got home I realised I had lost my wallet shortly after leaving Eddie's. Bought an LCD TV one Christmas Eve and it was faulty and so had no TV for the whole of Christmas. The seriel number on the TV had six 6s!

I'm telling you. The number is pure evil!

Anyone else avoid numbers they feel are unlucky / evil or have any weird phobias regrading numbers themselves?

Or conversely, any numbers which you are drawn to that you feel have brought you luck?

Apologies to those that gave birth to a child on June 6th, 2006.

The scariest thing about the number six is the name of its associated phobia.

Yes, as I thought sharing news of the evilness of this number, with that very number itself, would in some small way circumvent bad happenings from again occurring to me, based purely on the antagonistic qualities which good deeds tend to have had over evil doings in times since past.

I believe it has since been proven as mentioned in a previous post that it's actually the number 616 not 666 that's the true number of the best, if I recall correctly the 666 came about because it sounded better in literature and movies but I'm open to ridicule by other ahers

I've never heard of this one, but I have heard of triskaidekaphobia. Every Friday the 13th, a relative of mine avoids going out or interacting with other people, or even using the stairs. There is no way they'd buy a car with 13 in the reg, or a house with that number.

I know it's a phobia and outside any rational control, but it's very hard for me to understand.

It did, but it's gone back down. Me thinks some admin games are afoot. Or the OP deleted a post elsewhere in a moment of genius planning.

How long more will the OP wait in doing another post as the thread will loose its viability if post count changes to 667?

666 is a legitimate translation. Bible translations are assembled from a large number of different sources, and different manuscripts offer 666 and 616. Most authoritative and reliable manuscripts offer 666. A small number of earlier, but less relied upon manuscripts offer 616. The very earliest bible commentaries regard 616 as a scribal error. I believe 666 is more supported by numerology but I'm absolutely not an expert on that.

Good reasons for both translations, but all recent commentaries I've read regard 666 as the right translation.

a lot if not all of the Dublin area police station telephone numbers start with 666. Example Lucan is 6667300.

Some one in Telecom must have a sense of humour.
