Yeah likewise. We'll have to drum up a bit of support for this one and get a league of more than 5 teams :o

The Irish Times tend to have a nice prize fund every year so I think we should look at that one as well. Don't think it's set up yet though, not that it matters until the week before the 6N starts anyway

Which one is the best one, between EPSN, Irish Times and Scrum?

I've played a few of them before and it's never been as well put together as the soccer/American sports ones

ESPN Scrum is the best IMO.
Irish times generally allows you pick any 8 forwards you like regardless of position so you can pick 8 backrows if you like which isnt as good as if you have to pick props/2nd rows who are less likely to score

I haven't played the Irish Times one for about 2 years but having done the ESPN one for the Lions and autumn games and it was better alright, a little more thought to it for the reasons about the players alright.

We've had a very small league here (ESPN) for the Lions and the November internationals, neither were great but it adds to the enjoyment of the games. I agree that its best to have to pick a player from each position rather than 8 back rows and 7 wingers, if that's the way with others I'd prefer to stay with ESPN. Is this linked with the Rugby forum Lost Sheep? I've never looked in there.

I'm just in the process of signing up for this and looking at how the transfers work it's different to Autumn and the Lions and more traditional.

15 transfers permitted and only a max of 5 per week
During the tournament, you can react to the form and availability of your players by making transfers to change some of your selected players.

Please note that you can make unlimited transfers until the first match of the competition at 14:30 GMT on Saturday, 1 February.

Once the competition is underway, each coach is allocated 15 transfers in total, but can only make up to five transfers between Game Rounds. Kicker changes are unlimited.

However, both team changes and kicker changes are not permitted between the first scheduled kick-off for each weekend and 00:00 GMT on Monday.

All team changes and kicker changes take place with immediate effect.

When making transfers, you must always ensure that your team contains no more than four players from each nation and have the right number of players in each position.

Just joined with a lucky dip selection so far.

2 teams in and myself and another now pending.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,747 ✭✭✭Swiper the fox

I'll sign up tonight, that's good about the limited transfers, makes it a little more challenging when setting up your original team while loading your team weekly for the Italians.

I've looked at the Irish Times one and joined up. They're the exact same both ESPN and Irish Times and that Feck Toulon boards league has many more participants.

13 so far for ESPN, quick bump in case anyone is interested.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,305 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Prodston

I've just sorted my team there now for this. I'm doing the Irish Times one as well and it really is spam the back-rows when it comes to the forwards in that. Much less thought to it which I don't like.

A Cuthbert try to kick things off.

1/2P converts from the right-hand touchline

2 tries and 3 kicks for my lads. Decent first half

48 points. Not bad start at all now if the league admin could please accept the pending entries...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,967 ✭✭✭✭The Lost Sheep

I'll do it now. Doesn't make a difference when I accept people as points count in league anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,747 ✭✭✭Swiper the fox

21 in this league now, i'd be delighted with that only it looks like I will be lucky to be in the top 20 after the first week. No tries or assists from my 9 players yesterday:(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

2 tries and a motm today from my lads

You are kicking ass, I haven't had a single try or assist this week, unbelievable.

I thought I had Heaslip and checked there and no Heaslip :o

Huget did the business for me this week but I tend to start slow in these rugby games!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,305 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Prodston

I'm about 600th in the Irish Times and 16000th in the ESPN. Obviously there's more in the ESPN game but it's funny how spamming the backrow in the IT game makes such a difference. Heaslip in one and not the other makes the biggest difference.

As I'm on 60 and Kev is on 73 and Heaslip got 13. Kev is sitting in around 900th place.

Our leader is xvmen on 81 points which is just outside the top 100 players. I reckon there must be more than 100k players as the lowest score in our league on 40 is at 89k.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

BOD the only one of my backs not to score a try, was included for sentimental reasons, but will have to go now for sure.

V happy with the overall score though, sneaked inside the top 1K overall

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,305 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Prodston

Yeah I only had BOD because I talked myself out of Scott Williams in favour of Faletau over Heaslip in the back row and didn't fancy any of the other centres. Great management there :pac:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,449 ✭✭✭nudger

Picked BOD in both, think it might be time to retire the old warrior.
Having POC in the team didn't help either, so mid table in ESPN and a bit better in the IT.

I'm 474 in the world. Probably only about 2000 playing though.:(

Didnt do much to my team mainly bringing in Hugot for Trimble.
I expect the Ireland Wales game to have maximum 2 tries with 7 or 8 penaltys scoreable.
England should destroy the Scots and may empty the bench early like Ireland did last week likewise the French but maybe by less of a margin 14 or so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,305 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Prodston

Up to 101 points in this tonight and 8k in the game before tomorrow.

In the top 200 altogether in the Irish Times game. Naturally a lot can happen tomorrow yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

38 points today and up to 136 overall. That leaves me at 789th overall but only 3rd in the FSA league
