Hi, so to cut a long story short I used to weigh 19.2 stone and am currently down to 14.6 after many gym sessions. But I seemed to have hit a wall and cant get down any further....I recently bought an olympic weights bench and have dumbells also now I've done a few weeks but now I am wondering if this will help for toning the stomach area????

Any advice would be hreatly appreciated fuys as I really would like to tone.....

First off, congratulations on the weight loss thus far.

But if you want to see muscle tone, you have to lose bodyfat first and there's no way you can reduce bodyfat in one particular area. You just have to continue shedding the fat before you see muscle tone.

The more likely reason for hitting a wall is your diet. Post up a typical daily diet and that might be get you some pointers to work on.

    Typical Days eating would be:
Breakfast: Eggs with turkey rashers or Bran Flakes with lactose free milk
Lunch: Salad with either chicken or home cooked ham
Dinner: Meat and Veg without potatoes

    Nice things would consist of:
    85% Chocolate/Rice Cakes/Dark Chocolate Yogurts

Now don't get me wrong there are times where i have no choice but to maybe have yeast free bread or a wrap but i do keep it to a minimum. I am thinking about doing weight watchers next but compared to how i used to eat I feel I am doing much better.

I intend to keep the weight training going but i just don't see how building muscle in my chest will help with other areas if that makes sence?

Weight training will help burn fat along with a decent diet. You can do planks to help your core and stomach muscles but they won't be visible until the boodyfat level is reduced enough.

Ok, so what would you recommend....Should I stay doing what I am doing as i know the more muscle you build the more fat yo burn or should I just focus on cardio?

Doesn't have to beweight training or cardio. You can do both.

Your diet seems to be made up with healthy food for the most part. The only other question would be portion size.

How long has this wall been going on? Are you judging it purely by your weight - if your body shape is still changing then you are doing grand.

Yea going purely by my body weight. The gym owner told me to tone I need to do weights and maybe 5 mins of a job to warm up but then others tell me to only do cardio so i am extremely confused now.

You don't tone by doing cardio really. Cardio will help you get fitter. Toning is just a term for building and strengthening muscle which will assist you in shaping your body. Both will help you lose weight

Just so you're aware, you can be burning off the fat and seeing more muscle and stay the same weight.

Don't just judge by the scales.

    In fact, bin your scales.
