His brother died in a car accident just 6 years ago-I can't imagine what his family are going through. My thoughts and prayers are with them tonight...

As a person from Simon's town and someone who knew him, I would just like to thank Ruubot2 (and the other mods who offered their help so promptly) for getting this thread up so soon today through the site maintenance.

Unfortunately, there has been no news as yet regarding Simon's whereabouts. But hopefully there will be positive news soon.

    Thinking of Simons family.

Can you please keep us posted regarding search arrangements so we know where and when to meet if there are searches over the coming days.

Tomorrow morning at 9am, meeting outside Simon's house in Season Park, Newtown. Searches of Djouce Woods and surrounding areas.

Dress warmly, bring plenty of water and make sure you have your mobile fully charged.

Nothing has turned up so far, unfortunately.

Daz someone told me there might be a search at one tomorrow in season park? Is that going ahead?

Just got word of a Civil Defence search in the wicklow area. Could be coming to help with the search. I don't have any other details i'm afraid.

I was on to someone from the Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue team just now on a different matter and learnt that they're helping out too. The Dublin and Wicklow Mountain team are almost certainly there too.

He said they'd be searching over the weekend and Monday at least, maybe longer if needed.

Lovely chap and like his brother died far too young. My deepest sympathies to the family at this time. To say they had it hard is an understatement.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,493 ✭✭✭DazMarz

Apologies for my earlier post. Was trying to clear the matter up.

But as another poster said, the details are unimportant. A young man who had so much life left to live has died tragically.

It is not just now that the Day family will need support and to be helped by the community; it is in the following weeks and months as the dust settles. Continued and consistent support and caring is so important now and will surely happen.

    RIP, Simon.

My heart goes out to his poor parents. I hope they find continued support in the community, the efforts that were went to show how much everyone cared.

    RIP Simon.
