Real Chicken and Beef stock in Tesco

Browsing the aisles of Tesco yesterday and near the refrigerated meat section there is a new product, real stock!

I was hesitant because most stocks are very processed, are mostly yeast extract, have loads of flavour enhancers and preservatives and contain very little actual stock (sometimes less than 10%).

These are just real stock made from free range bones and vegetables and nothing else.

I made asian noodle broth from the chicken stock today with chillies, garlic ginger, mushrooms, bok choi and spring onions and the taste was amazing, like something you'd get in wagamama.

Stock is very nutritious as it contains gelatin, which is great for skin and bones, is one of the few sources of glucosamine in the diet and other trace minerals as well as being very very tasty!

I'd suggest anyone making a soup or stew in the next few days to give it a try.

what brand - any chance of a pic?
and what price - all the real ones I've seen have been prohibitively expensive.
    ta.

    Here it is:

A little over two euro which I know seems pricey, but it can take a lot of time to make chicken stock so I think it's worth it for the taste and convenience.

Where else have you seen real stock with nothing else added btw? Even Marks and Spencer's ones are loaded with additives.

I thought the M&S ones in pouches were clean  but they were €4 or something mad.
I also got these once in Tesco but they seem to have been discountinued

The tesco one's are jellified, which is the sign of a really good stock and the flavour is really good.

Made a beef bourguignon yesterday using the beef stock. The husband had to stop me from 'tasting' the stock so often :). It actually makes a really nice soup all on it's own. Also I didn't mention, incredibly soothing for the digestive system.
