Just before I go and sit through any more of this than I have to, has Joe been on yet?

I'm not sure I can bear to sit through much of this. Might wait for it to go up on the player.

This song is a nice respite though. Hopefully Joe will be on right after.

One of my mates was in the Selfie of the year awards, glad I saw them. The bar for being nominated was very low...

My god I can't stand Tubridy - the questions are a bit cringey.

"What was going through your mind" when Ireland are clinging on for their life against New Zealand? What does he expect him to say?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,339 ✭✭✭Artful_Badger

Takes RTE all right. Show the one thing nobody wants to fcukin see.

We've got the misery out of the way, the rest will be about Joe's Irish connections from family holidays to rugby to Irish ancestors and people he knows who like riverdance.

Tenuous Irish links to a place in NZ, all he has to do now is fit JFK into this conversation.

Mullingar is the reason they're here?!

Starting to revise my opinion of the man here ;)

She seems to have her head well and truly screwed on. Impressed with her.

I bloody love Joe, he could be saying anything and I'd love it - I've no idea why.

Tubridy likes to stick with things until they are overdone and awkward. Joe's wife was very good so took him a while to reduce it all to ashes.

He didn't even let him say what/when/where the epilepsy awareness event is

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,619 ✭✭✭✭errlloyd

Age is a number we don't care about, the number of tackles is a number we do care about.

    Nod to BOD lions ?

He should have gotten more time for the epilipsy event. I know it is on the 10th of Feb but I dont know what it is. That was the point of him being there.

    EDIT: Cheers Venjur

I know he was talking about Brad Thorn, the conversation had moved on a little bit and I think Tubridy's war horse comment regarded BOD.

But obviously the big Lions debate over Bods selection was that he made 50 thousand tackles in the second test, when John Davies only made 1 and a half. I thought it was interesting that he picked "tackles" as the numbering thing. Maybe just coincidence.

Anyone else think that was a complete waste of time? I saw no point in it at all, Tubridy didn't ask him anything worthwhile.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,424 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Whoever came up with the questions - they were terrible.

It appeared very forced as in Tubridy had a list of questions to ask and that was that.

The conversation didn't flow and I think Schmidt would have liked to spoken longer about a few things but was cut off.

I wouldnt read that much into it I think he was just addressing Tubridy's comment about old war horses. He just said age doesnt really come into it, mentioned Thorn being "old" but not off the pace, age being a number but not a number he's particularly interested in.

I really like Joe, but that was cringeworthy. Not from Joe, but Tubridy just asked rubbish. On a show like that people want to know more about the man himself, not yet another review of a heartbreaking loss, and a few inane Qs about this & that.

Well they probably turned the stomach of every fan in Ireland with the NZ stuff. So success as far as RTE productions go.

It was really obvious that some questions led to specific points. Tubirty randomly asked about Sexton's leadership which led to talking about the half-time talk against Northhampton. It felt so forced

That was the first time I've seen the Crotty try since being at the game. And it will hopefully be the last.
