Yep its serious bucks alright for the full set of artwork with the blacklight stuff. And probably a few more hundred for the joystick and spinner..

So, lets just say you were to build these things, lets call them repro cabs, how much would a Robotron cab cost someone??

best bet would be to get all the bits together and hire someone to make it.
research/planning is key.
youd need a metal cp aswell tho i think?

Hobby for me,
My uncle is the master craftsman!
He does kitchens/bars/wardrobes/anything for a living.
I'm sure he'd be willing to make anything!
He based just outside of newbridge.

I'd say I might have to watch out for a donor cab, then convert it.
The CP is pretty unique, though the upright's seem easy to adapt.

This thread has got me wanting to get on something myself. I'd like to give a go at making a mini cab. Like 2/3 size cab would pretty cool I think. Pointless but would be cool

If I could be trusted to measure a piece of wood & get a remotely accurate reading I'd try some kind of DIY sitdown-driver cab.

I got the side art on and the stick/buttons/cpo in place.
I'd like to say the side art was a piece of piss to get on but it was far from it.
Bit of a nightmare in fact because of air bubbles.
No matter how slow or fast we went we kept getting them.
They even seemed to be appearing in places.
Any way got it on as good as possible so happy enough! Pics to follow!

Did you spray the back with soapy water and squueegy it on?

If you used soapy water the air bubbles should disappear over the next couple days.

Give it a go,
I'm a registered nurse and can talk you through any first aid assistance you will inevitably require, up to but just not including accidental amputation by saw.

So puncture yourself with a screwdriver, staple your eyelid to your knee or plane off a kneecap and I can probably advise you, as long as your fingers are still capable of typing and you've at least one functional eye remaining.

So again i spent all day yesterday wiring!
I cant believe how slow it was (and its not 100% finished) but I got there!

Heres the little panel for quick swapping of control panels.


Next up power and admin buttons.(one spare button)
The buttons were too small to mount on 15mm ply so used that little toolbox insert as a holder.Actually worked out perfectly!


Monitor chassis on and monitor bolted to its holder and inserted!(no chassis in that pic!must of been a test fit!)
You can see the PSU in the bottom.I was using a jamma psu but it died :mad:
luckaly I had a hacked atx psu I could use to get it running.
I'll be putting a jamma psu back in it next week.



So last night I fired it up and all wasnt well
I got this crap.


Played around with it a bit but couldnt get it right at all so emailed grant (gunblade) and left it for the night.

So this moring I went at it again with a fresh head and some gunbalde advice and !it works! reflowed 3 points on the remote board that were snaped off at a jumper point and here she is 98% finished!:D:D:D






Overall im extremely happy with the finish.
I way underestimated how much time this has taken but im glad I put the extra hours into and got something so nice!

whats left to do:
lock for the front,
replace psu
speaker mesh
and thats it I think!

Had a few friends over last night Night and it was used for a solid 7 hours and never gave any problems!
The picture is super sharp.
The pinball table was the real winner. Some Serious competition going on until the small hours!
