Agreed. I think we could fill a thread with open plan office stuff. :D
I used to sit near someone who sounded like she was on a one woman mission to knock the whole place down. Everything was crash, slam, wallop, bang, and that was just her sitting at her desk doing her everyday work.

ATMs that have 'Out of Order' on the screen.

Of course there's no money in the ATM, but there's more you can do for example, check your bank balance or top up on phone credit.

Usually when it says out of order some idiot has their card stuck in the machine as they have entering in the wrong pin 3 times.

The county Clare (or possibly other counties as well ) expression "he's gone fierce shook looking" , over heard this at a funeral as I walked by , think they were talking about me now ! I'm doomed:eek:

Receptionists in doctor's offices. Never have I encountered such rude, miserable, passive aggressive, jumped up, obstructive, difficult people. Masters of the withering look, the curt phone call and making you feel that you are the scum of the earth for making them engage with you. I exaggerate somewhat but really, they are in general a bunch of rude ****s with seemingly massive chips on their shoulders who appear to hate their jobs.

If my office door is open when you arrive, leave it open when you leave. If it's closed when you arrive, close it when you leave.

Can't be too hard to understand, surely?

This is probably Boards suicide but anyway. It annoys me when people plaster their facebook walls with warnings about rapists who have been spotted in certain areas (and indeed when papers do it too). I know they are the scum of the earth and if I am honest I dont believe in rehabilitation but legally, when they have served their sentence, they are entitled to a peaceful existence the same as the rest of society. It may leave a bad taste in the mouth of those who want capital punishment/longer sentences/chemical castration etc but this kind of vigilante stalking and hysterics just does my head in to be honest.

Legally and logically aren't always co existent though.
I'd never share the stories or pictures myself as it's usually fear mongering but I cannot blame people who do. No one wants that kind of person living near them, and seeing as you don't believe in rehabilitation I have to assume you wouldn't want them near you either.

You haven't met my neighbours :p Seriously, of course I wouldn't want them living next door, but the annoyance stems from the way people act as if they have a right to know, and they dont. Now, whether you agree with that or not is a different issue, and certainly one that could probably have its own thread. I know that legally and logically dont always co-exist, but just because they might conflict on a subjective level, is not justification for a mob mentality/hysterical scare mongering.

This thing of a spate of "white van" stories going around on social media is what I can't stand tbh. The scaremongering and the whole idea that they have to be "first" with the "news" and "I know something you don't" idiots.

    Cry wolf syndrome.

Irish people that follow an English football club. Why does somebody from Dublin or Tralee choose to support a team in Manchester ?? I dont get it.

One argument is that the Irish leagues are crap / underfunded blah blah blah. Well maybe if you spend €60 on a local football jersey instead of one from England and went to a few of their games instead of flying across to the UK the teams / league would have more money and could improve the stadiums , training grounds etc etc .

There was a notorius and unrepentent rapist and murderer released in Spain a few months back. About a week later there were reports spreading like wildfire that he was on the loose and had tried to grab a teenage girl in the city where I live which is also where one of his attacks took place. Internet messages were rife warning people not to go out alone or stay in etc.

In actual fact it was some loon who had went walkabout from the psychiactric hospital and was wandering naked aorund the streets.

There have also been a number of unfortunate uncidents (in the UK as far as I can recall) of mistaken identity combined with collective public stupidity that led to innocent men being hounded.

Couple of years back I overheard my nieces and their friends (7/8 year olds) playing a game along the gist of... you be the man in the white van and try to abduct us.

    WTF?
