    Hi,

I want to convert a portable HD to ext3 to use on my Linux based STB (Gigablue).

Would be grateful for suggestions on what program I can use to do this please?

    Thanks

    Guys,

I ran that program by clicking the 'format' icon - but it seems to have just formatted half the drive.

What should I do to format the whole drive please.

Delete all partitions on the disk so you're left with unused space, then try again

    Hi,

So I clicked on 'Delete Partition' but not sure what to click next. The 'format' icon is gone (as is the name Samsung). What should I click on next please?

Highlight it and click create and make a new partition

Create a partition on the drive and it will then allow you to format to ext3

Yes, create a new partition and then format it to ext3

wow, yoiur replies are so fast - much appreciated.

So I click on 'create' and get the below:

Should i type in 'Samsung' as the 'Partition label'?

Do I leave Create as as it is i.e. Logical?

And change File system to ext3?

Is there anything else I should change?

Label is the name, can be anything. Create as primary
