    Anyone ever used them ?
    Your opinions ?

    My experience :

    I love them ! 99cm version salomon ...
No ski poles no lugging big skis around ...

The response and turning angle and diversity far out ways skis in my opinion but that's my opinion .

I know I know probably will here the (down with that sort of thing response ) but each to there own peeps ...
I got my go pro ready few days left and I will post vids of what they can do lol

What's the hardest thing about snowblading?? Telling your parents you are gay!! Ha ha

As long as you are safe and having fun that is what it is all about

But if you want the general perception of them most people think they are a joke, they were even the kit of choice of saucer boy! They were designed as a training tool for racers to work on fore aft balance & broke out to general use as a response to snowboarding. Responsiveness and turning angle versus a decent pair of. Skis there is no competition the skis will come out too every time on top, skis will be more stable and you can generate and deal with greater forces than you can on blades.

I got himself a pair, he loved them for a while - tricks and 360s, goofing around. But the flats and the lack of speed got to him after a while & he's gone back to skiing. If they were handy to bring with us, I'd say he'd bring them for a day or so for a bit of messing around.

Ah I just hate that "you're gay" nonsense.

Re: blades, I think the cool/not cool debate is funny- it's just more ski-wa*kerism really- as long as everone's safe and having fun, who cares??! Looking forward to the videos D-Don ;)

Nothing to do with anything other than safety every major manufacture removed them from general sale to the public as by their very nature they are designed to be unstable and the industry responded to feedback in relation to them.

But don't let facts stop you throwing out your second personal insult of the day at me

God did you read my post or just react??? Middle paragraph is the important bit.

As for the bottom paragraph, it's fact not opinion if they were better in the park every athlete on the Dew tour or at sloppy style events would be wearing them. They are what they are we use them 1/2 days a year for training.

Like I said if you say they are better than skis in the park than why don't the pros use them. I Boarded first for a few years than blades for a season and a bit and now skis so I have a broad comparison

Breckenridge, squaw and park city banned them in the early nighties due to a large increase in ankle and knee injuries through their use. They were removed from the x games in 2001 for the same reason.

In 99 pretty much every major ski company made them now only two do, and don't sell them retail. Like I said whatever your poison is and you are safe and having fun off you go.

But claiming they are better than normal skis is a bit silly considering that if they were they would be prolific on the freestyle tour.

    The big killer for them
Was the introduction of the 1080 by the company that made the trade mark ski blades famous! The same company who I work and ride for under a pro deal the reason they have for stopping selling them commercialy was the number of law suits pending over safety concerns

Okay ...... back in your time period of clarifications times were different granted they came with fixed bindings but not me.. I have done some daring things and to this day not a problem.. whizzed passed skiers on black runs etc but then again i dont care cause its (fun ) i am after not a totem pole .

I dont claim commercially I claim from experience.. Due to my good nature I had a pain me boxxox picking skiers up of the slopes in worry they might be trampled on by a ignorant skier ..

I don't care who sponsors you but you need to realise You started out somewhere at one time and learned certain things along the way .
YOU NEED a dose of back to basics in being helpful and not a nob jockey ..

Anyways roll on my holidays cause this boiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii is going blading and if your nice Ill stick in a pic on the video with FATTS licks blades on it :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34 JNinja

So when you say some resorts don't allow them , would they actually approach and say " nooooooo short ski's a no go " ... Have you seen it happen or is it more so an unwritten rule ?

Depends on the resort, basically you would be stopped at the first lift in the am or when a piste patroller notices them, a large % of North American resorts don't allow them, Europe is a little more relaxed but there are a few places that don't allow them.

The supply of them will kill them off as most available ones are now 8 years old or more and they were made from composite cores which degrade over time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34 JNinja

I ski'd oh I mean " bladed " on a 2013 Solomon pair last year , are we talking the same equipment here ? ... I know there is a 120cm blade that is commonly used we had em for one day and returned them , using the 99cm instead , is this what your referring too ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,208 ✭✭✭Fattes

The 120 blade is slightly different to the original ones on that it has a proper sidecut and shape and a wood core and is more stable than the original ones some instructors use them and coaches use them on the hill, I have a pair but have never used them.

It is however not sold at retail and some larger rental chains or main retail partner shops will get them from manufacturers

    I'm Coming Out"

    I'm coming out
    I'm coming
    I'm coming out
    I'm coming out
    I'm coming out

    I'm coming out
I want the world to know
    Got to let it show
    I'm coming out
I want the world to know
I got to let it show

There's a new me coming out
And I just had to live
    And I wanna give
    I'm completely positive
    I think this time around
    I am gonna do it
    Like you never knew it
    Ooh, I'll make it through

The time has come for me
To break out of this shell
    I have to shout
    That I am coming out

    I'm coming out
I want the world to know
I got to let it show
    I'm coming
    I'm (coming out) coming
(I want the world to know)
(I got to let it show)

I've got to show the world
    All that I wanna be
    And all my abillities
There's so much more to me
Somehow, I have to make them
    Just understand
I got it well in hand
    And, oh, how I've planned
    I'm spreadin' love
There is no need to fear
And I just feel so good
    Everytime I hear

    I'm coming out
    Coming
(I want the world to know)
(I got to let it show)
    I'm coming out
I want the world to know
I got to let it show

    [Instrumental Interlude]

    I'm coming out
I want the world to know
Got to let it show.... scat to end
