Want to build a fast PC mainly for photoshop use.
I havn't done this before, so any advice appreciated.
Did some research and am thinking of building the PC with this tower and the following components.
I wont be attempting over clocking.
The monitor I am thinking of buying to go with the PC is the Dell UltraSharp U2713H

Tower - Cooler Master HAF 912 Advanced €85

    Processor - Intel Core i7-4770K - 3.5GHz - Socket 1150 - Unlocked €300
    Motherboard - ASUS Maximus VI Formula - Socket 1150 - ATX €260
    RAM - Kingston HyperX Genesis 16GB - PC3-12800 - DIMM €150
    Graphics Card - ATI FIREPRO V5800DVI 1GB DDR5 PCI-EX16 2DVI RETAIL €300

    Hard drive 1 SSD - Kingston HyperX 3K 240GB €165
    Hard drive 2 - Western Digital Black - 2TB (x2) €135 for both

    Power Supply - Corsair 760W AX760 80PLUS Platinum High Performance PSU €150
Processor Cooling - Comes with processor I think. Will that one be ok ?
Fans for Casing - ??? Do I need some ?

    DVD Burner - ASUS DRW-24F1ST - DVD burner €20
    Card Reader - Ewent EW1079 - 16:1 - USB 3.0 €27

Thats the components I am thinking of buying, and most of these are available from Komplett.
Any advice on whether or not the component choice is ok or not?
Is the power supply I am thinking of buying ok?
Will I need extra fans for the casing?
Is there anything else I need?

Is this an ok build anyone?!
    Would extra fans be required?

Fill this out, if you would, and post back here.

    1. What is your budget? €1500 - That is the total cost of the parts in my first thread

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Photoshop

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No

    5. Do you need a monitor? Yes, but seperate budget for that.

5a. If yes, what size do you need. 27' It will be a Dell UltraSharp U2713H Monitor

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? DVD drive and card reader

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? No

    8. How can you pay? Any method

    9. When are you purchasing? One or two weeks

I'd have a look at a Xeon with an iGPU rather than bothering with a dedicated GPU (Careful not all Xeon models have an iGPU).

Most photoshop GPU accelerated effects perform nearly as quick on pretty moderate graphics cards as they do on very expensive ones, so the p4600 of the Xeon I have selected should do just fine. Unless there is more than photoshop involved I this this should be sufficent, I don't think a €300 Firepro is required here.

You are probably spending quite a bit more than you need to on the PSU and motherboard as well, theres really no need for something like the ASUS Maximus VI Formula here.

This would be the core of a perfectly good build for your needs. A 450W psu is fine if you did want to add a GPU later on down the line, as I am guessing it will be on for longs stretches of the day you might as well get a gold one.

6-core processor versus your 4-core, same everything else, except I've left out the FirePro card because I don't know specifically what one to go for, or how much difference they make. There's still enough room there that you can add one if you wish.

    Thanks for the info guys.
The reason for the graphics card is because I read the following text on various websites.

You want 10 bit color output for professional use.
Note that 10 bit color output is for video/photo editing professionals, and does require a quadro or firepro card to be functional in the adobe suite. Consumer cards (geforce / radeon) only allow 10 bit color in D3D, and not adobe suite - so you're wasting money on a 2713H with a consumer card. You will not get 10 bit color in the proper professional applications that need it.

Could chuck in this if you want 10-bit support I suppose.

I see, you learn something new every day :).

I'd reckon you probably needn't to get anything massively expensive, and something like in Serephucus post above would be just fine.
