Got 2 of these today and am really pleased with them. Had to throw out the huge (and stupidly expensive) cream rug I bought a few years ago so these will do for awhile. Thanks for the heads up vicwatson. ;)

I noticed a lot of offers have 'Current selling price valid until 17/01/2014' so beware - today may be the last day of sale.

I felt a great disturbance at Argos as if millions of trees suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear a new catalogue has launched.

You'd hope that they don't print anywhere near as many catalogues as they used do. The only purpose I use the catalogue for now is as a stand for my monitor, everything else is on the internet.

Did they not do away with the catalogue a while back, when I was in last all I seen was gift guides.

Yeah pretty sure the catalogues are gone now. It's just the small leaflets now.

No big huge boxes of catalogues in my local argos already

Like phone books they should be given on a give one get one basis I think. Bring back a 2013 one and get a 2014 one.

Phone books are given on a give one get one basis? They were always just left on my front step.

I think Argos want people to read them. Dunno if being eco friendly would suit them.

To be honest I'd prefer to see the individual bargains rather than this Argos thread. I just think people will miss the really big bargains, as they stood out more with their own thread. Im much less inclined to look through this thread now as there are just small items such as wool rugs, and childrens toys etc.
In the past ive gotten great bargains such as electric toothbrushes worth 200 euro reduced to 45 etc. I'll probably miss these now as Im not going trawling through an "argos bargains" thread every day.

+1 for individual bargain threads. There are too many posts in this thread to keep up with it. Maybe it would be easier to navigate if no chat was allowed?

good idea. There are way too many posts to keep up with. No chat allowed could help, just post a link to the bargain.

Separate threads is the way to go I think. After all there isn't that many Argos bargains. We need some chat so users can discuss quality/features of the product etc.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,007 ✭✭✭witnessmenow

I too support individual theads, but I am also a believer in forums to operate organically (make it on their own so to speak) so I wouldn't be for locking this at the moment

Personally for me a big thread for argos bargains that are limited stock or whatever might be good? You know when you come across something and its only in stock in Wexford or somewhere, just throw it in there to help your fellow Wexford boardsies

But as I said, whatever you guys think!

Agree 100%. The really good bargains from the past such as the 40inch tv for 350, and the 200 electric toothbrush for 45 would be lost in this "argos bargains" thread.
Some of the really good argos bargains had 20 pages + on their own!
