So I know there's an app thread on the tech forum, but that's all a bit too techie, and reading it there I didn't know what half the apps were actually for. And I'm curious about what apps the good denizens of AH use on a day to day basis.

I'd use Dropbox, Facebook, and Flipboard.

Got this new "telephone" app for Android. Lets you make calls to anyone in the world by keying in a series of numbers. Never realised the full capabilities of my Android device until now.

I find Sofa Score a better alternative to Live Score. Pin your favourite team and your phone will talk to you when the game starts, tell you when there is a score and you can also watch video footage of each goal.

Watch ON, (with the TV remote built in)
    Sky News App grrreat too.

Shocked at the amount of people who have the facebook app. It's shocking. Just log into FB from your browser.

I'd recommend Cabbage - send text messages using your allocation of web-texts. Very handy.

Hailo is also very good - get a taxi and don't worry about having to carry cash.

MyTracks - record time, speed and elevation of your runs / cycles. Even gives you a nice map view

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

    MapMyRun
Yr.no (very detailed weather app, including periods of sunshine, very handy in the summer when you're trying to schedule a round of golf)
Tune-In Radio, despite some issues with their TodayFM stream it's very good
C25k Couch to 5k, great for anyone looking to get into running as part of their New Year's Resolution
    Spotify

    Minecraft

I find the mobile browser site far worse. You can't flick-to-scroll images even. The FB app is grand.

    My most used apps are:

    Facebook
    Dailymail
    Alien Blue
    Bus Time
    Ultimate Value Diary
    Candy Crush

    Other favourites include:

    Hailo
    Bank of Ireland
    Daft.ie
    Netflix
    Tune In Radio
    Snapchat

I'm always downloading new games but usually get bored of them quickly and delete them. I'm addicted to Candy Crush...on level 425 or something. I've gone to delete it loads of times but I just can't :o

What is the name of that app called please and is it free? I only use my Android for playing chess when traveling and email and twitter.

I don't use facebook myself, but the permissions it looks for on android devices are absolutely crazy. My wife refuses to install it and rightly so IMO.

My most used: WhatsApp, SwiftKey, BBC News, LiveScore, Opera Classic.

Also use Adverts, AntiVirus (AVG), APP2SD Easy, Cabbage Ultimate, Clean Master, Dublin Bus, Extended Controls, Met Eireann, Moon+ Reader, NodeBeat, Pocket Tanks, Poweramp, Spotify, Sudoku Free, Tool Box, XE Currency, X-plore ;)

My most used? Hailo, Youtube and Spotify.

Although I don't really use it, I also have some apps by amateur groups (like Jugger Match) installed in order to increase the profile of groups attempting to build apps from scratch.

Bluestacks is useful for people who want to install apps on desktop/laptop computers, but most apps are designed specifically for "mobile" use.

The ones I use the most would be Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, Pinterest, Youtube and Snapchat (that's only recently though). I also use Maps, I get lost quite a bit.

    It's called Facebook.
