Maybe this isnt the right thread but does anyone else find it odd that ROG is having his testimonial dinner thing in London? Surely Cork/Limerick no?

Joe.ie, the score and Indo have been promoting it continuously. I haven't been able to escape it actually and that's not to say I'm not looking forward to it

Same here. Thought it would get more exposure. Could be good though.

He had one in Cork already. This one is on the weekend of the Eng/Ire 6N and if it raises money for charity then best of luck to him.

Are you in Ireland? You might get it on one of these:

    aertv.ie
    rte.ie/live

I think Sexton would have been a better first choice for this match show as his game personality is more rounded than Rog's.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,997 ✭✭✭Grimebox

On the other hand, ROG is more of a guarantee if you want to close out a TV show

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,668 ✭✭✭Mahatma Geansai

This is going to be one for the ages alright. ROG pulls no punches and nobody can deny that he is an interesting character. The Mods will have a fun couples of days ahead of them.

That's why your tv is in the corner - ROG would have kicked it there

Munster backs look so much better than the current ones

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42 puffbubble

So the Sky box is set to record, it's now 21.40, the record button hasn't come on and the programme isn't recording. We pop over to the channel to check and it's the only channel that Sky isn't receiving a signal for - WHAT THE FLIP!!!!

Munster really did play some super rugby back at the beginning of the last decade. It always made me laugh when the journos said that Munster played a "traditional forwards game" back then and Leinster had flashy backs and a soft pack when in fact both teams played some great 15 man rugby.

    Stereotypes, eh?

It's good so far, that match against Toulouse is one of my all-time favourites, we were absolutely outstanding that day.

Loving this so far but wish ROG would either stop looking at the camera or the interviewer would move.
For some reason, I think documentaries like this work much better if the view is offset

what i would love to know is where they get the footage from, not the ones of the plays, but of the players/manager and staff on the sidelines during plays....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,994 ✭✭✭sullivlo

He comes across as slightly bitter, but I do think that he genuinely believes in himself and backs himself 1000% and that's the confidence that we loved.

Good so far, he's coming across really well IMO.

even back in the early 2000's munster games??? wow

Enjoying this, but the RTE streaming is pure shiite. Have to refresh about every 2 minutes :( Like his honesty though. And man, I don't miss that Kidney expression "he's been going well at training..."

I like the going back and forth between the ROG v Sexton story and his earlier career with Munster/Ireland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

Good start, maybe seemed a little bitter following the France game but nothing unreasonable..... no one is going to be happy about being dropped, particularly an experienced player like him.

Anybody else think it's very poor?

It's a great production. They're turning some real simple statements into gut wrenching moments.

Yeah I'd agree. Talking about the England game in 2010 you can completely understand how he feels as he was the only one to be dropped from the starting XV. That has to hurt regardless of who you are. Anyone who has played sport knows that you're always affected by not featuring in a starting line-up, even more-so when you're used to it. Anyone who says you just get on with it and don't let it bother you is talking rubbish. As far as I'm concerned it takes a bit of balls to be honest about this in public. It would be very easy to fall back on cliches to make sure you don't offend anyone or anything. Really enjoying it so far.
