I am really looking forward to this year and am feeling ridiculously positive. I suffered from a very debilitating depression for five years up to last February. It has been a very slow recovery back last year. Each month I got a bit stronger mentally and more and more of my personality came back.

This time last year I had retreated back into my shell St. Stephen's Day and didn't come back out until the first week of February. Only time I left the house was to bring kids to school and cigarettes.

So this year I can't wait to get my teeth back into life again. I have hopes and dreams that I can't wait to see if I can actually achieve them. If I can't it won't be for lack of trying though ;)

One of my goals for this year, is really egotistical and I am damn well going to try and do it. Most though are far more mundane:
Want to stay off the cigarettes
Finish the first half of my last year in college (having to pay privately due to being ill the last few years).
Would LOVE to be able to run 5 miles, or do a cartwheel.
    Do more camping.
And have successfully moved the family abroad this year.

So what are AH'ers hopes, dreams, or wishes for 2014? What would you give a less favoured body part to do this year?

To use umbrellas more, too many times last year I got wet because I was self-conscious about what people would think of that lad with the umbrella but NO MORE. I hope it rains tomorrow

Not one for making mad resolutions for myself that I can't keep, so I've made ones that I can:

    1) Start jogging again and try and not do my knee in by going at it too hard too soon.

    2) Take more stuff with a pinch of salt; take stuff on the chin a bit more (that's work in progress).

    3) Continue with my yoga. It's brilliant. Really enjoying it and wish I did it sooner.

    4) Go to more gigs.

    5) Cook more nice veggie food.

    6) Be happy!

    Mine
A steady girlfriend - as opposed to endless empty one night stands.
A promotion - May have to walk over some colleagues.
Revenge - One person I am gonna have ultimate revenge on this year.
House - Might buy a repo house.
Health - I will get my Black Belt this year.
Oh ya and world peace !

    What's yours!

My primary goal for this year is to complete my Masters degree. I'm also hoping that Ireland's economy improves significantly during 2014, that more jobs are created and that the general mood of the country turns more optimistic. I'd also love a new car.

    1. Get out of this **** hole of a country and never come back.
    2. Succeed in getting an internship for the summer to have enough experience to carry out No. 1
    3. Try and be a better more outgoing.
    4. Lose 2 stone.
    5. Renew gym membership to do number 4.

And that's just off the top of my head.

If I succeed in doing 3 of the above i'll be in a better place.

Well done Queen Mise, for you and everyone around you this is a wonderful achievement. 2014 will be a year of great progress and things will get better n better in future.

    My Hopes;
    - Get as physically fit as i was when i was 16 (the last time i was physically fit!)
    - Manage my time better
    - Get more sleep

Start training to become strong and fit.

Spend my free time more constructively and manage my work time more efficiently.

Either move jobs or move house, in order to improve lifestyle/social life.

I will be very happy if I achieve these, and I think they are very achievable. Can't wait to get going.

ETA: the biggest aim of all is to clear all debts/loans bar one, and make additional payments on that one.

Pass my exams and come off anti depressants. Don't get fat. I don't have any big aims really.

    Prediction for 2014:

The living will envy the dead

    1. Keep my house tidy - I am the messiest, most disgusting person ever and I am well aware of it. I need to get into a routine of tidying at least a room a day and getting the hoover out more than once every 3 months.

    2. Budget - I've just split with my husband and will now have double the rent to pay, plus 100% of all the bills - that will require being careful with money which I am REALLY going to struggle with.

    3. Keep up the running. I started last year in Feb, only achieved 5k as I was doing it on and off without real committment, I'd like to complete a 10k this year.

    4. Make an effort with my friends. As I'm a lazy person, I generally leave it to other people to contact me. I'm going to change that this year.

That various members of my family will find luck in their jobs/pensions. That they will find happiness.

That we will see an end to intolerance, hatred and bitterness.

That long running conflicts will be resolved.

I don't know why but I have a real foreboding about this year can't seem to shift it. I dearly hope I am wrong.

    Religious or political ?

Id go for the religious if I were you, more going on for them these days, although that said their entrance criteria are a bit tougher.

I hear there are even drug crime based ones these days, they run internships in Colombia, mad isn't it.

I do a list of 5 things every year, so this year...
    • Give up smoking completely, I have cut it down to social mainly but I want to cease full stop
    • Get my blue belt in BJJ
    • Drop to 92KGs, currently weigh just over 100KG (spent too much time doing weights)
    • Clear all my debts
    • Get my own company selling, I have set a 10k Net profit target for this year.
