And you lost your last key?

Sounds like you don't have a spare key so things could be worse than you think. If you don't have a spare there is nothing for them to copy, so they could have to change all the locks. Alternatively a main dealer might be able to provide a new key by referencing the vehicle identification number (VIN).

That's not a problem. Decent locksmith is able to cut a key if has a lock.

    IMMO coding is main problem.

Forget it. The main dealer will change all the locks and ECU. Cost approx. 2500 notes.

Alternative - 2nd hand master key paired with ECU and set of locks from breakers.

Depends on breakers. I'd say 200-300 notes for ECU + key + locks. Ring a few and ask.

Hi joujoujou when you say breakers do u mean scrap yards?

    Yup. :)

You need a key (black) and ECU (locks too, of course) from the same car.

Yes but to get those keys coded you need to already have the cars black master key to code off of.

as the op has no keys they will not be able to avail of what you posted. To get the job done at Toyota will cost considerably more than 300+vat.

Slightly related the spare for my car 04 Fiesta has gone AWOL, I have the main key with electronic unlocking ballpark how much will a new spare without central locking cost and if I wanted a key with central locking how much am I looking at?

Only because jap imports have no immobiliser fitted. :p

TBH it's sometimes easier to get bits and pieces for japs than cars sold here.

Try lockdoctor.ie, they have a guy based in Galway, I have never used them, or have anything to do with them, but they are worth a call, otherwise you may have breakdown cover in you insurance policy and that may cover the cost of getting it towed to a repairer.

ya was thinking that myself but 300+vat for two uncoded keys sounds very expensive to me.

I lost a key for a 97 Corolla before that had a bloody immobiliser fitted.

Paid €100 to get it sorted.

Here is how I did it:

Firstly I managed to get the drivers door open with a coat hanger. Fiddly as hell and it takes patience and time.

Once that was done I took the barrel out of the door. (remove door card and remove clip holding the barrel in place). Now if your car doesn't have an immobiliser all you have to do is bring that to a locksmiths and they will cut a key for you.

If its immobilised you will have to strip down the centre console to find the immobiliser. (For me it was buried deep down behind the ashtray).

Once located remove it. (Also had the battery disconnected).

Then bring barrel and key to the locksmiths.

I used Collerans down near Massimos back the west.

I know your model is newer than my one but I'm sure there isn't a whole lot of difference.

They will do all this for you too but at a considerable cost. That's why I done it myself.

This is what my key looked like:

A key with remote control is dearer than the one without (276+VAT vs. 49+VAT).

But nobody has to buy from dealer. I bought some 2nd hand ones off ebay. Never paid more than 20 notes (remote with transponder) + 10 notes (uncut key fob), all work perfectly.

    It is.

In case of OP's car it won't work. It's IMMO is built in ECU. :p

Fair enough, might be handy for someone else sure.

Give Collerans a ring anyway sure and get a quote.

    No harm to know anyway.

    Best of luck.

Can you claim it of your insurance? Check your policy T&Cs.

if the car is open take door lock out get key cut in locksmiths and then tow car to locksmiths where they will code it in. if it cost more than 100 euro. if they cant do immobiliser (I would be amazed) buy a key and ecu. (should be less than a 100 euro) use the key you got cut to open the car and turn ignition and hang secondhand key on ring to cancel immobiliser.

I tried them a few months ago when I lost a key, they seem to be interested in the Dublin area only.
