    Friday 9th December
    Rest as planned.

    Saturday 10th December
    am: 8 miles easy @ 9:51

8 laps of local park. Feeling really good despite hangover.
    pm: 6 miles @ 9:50
Pace a bit slower than it felt. Felt really good, but hangover and lack of sleep the previous night having an impact perhaps.

    Sunday 11th December
    18 miles @ 9:43

10 laps of local park and then went on a round-about voyage to collect the long neglected car from Friday. Definitely feeling a bit tired this morning, despite a decent sleep last night and expected pace to be well up in the 10 min/miles, but was surprisingly a good bit quicker for a very easy effort. Got very thirsty on this run, but besides that, all was good. Nice strong finish, but was happy to be done.

75.4 miles weekly total Hope to take it up a good notch next week.
    Big day tomorrow.

Ah, don't do that, tell us Ososlo! Good luck with whatever it is anyway.

Was thinking it couldn't be a session after 18miles today ... but I guess also a possibility with Ultra training ...

3,000 miles in less than a year  No wonder you're bringing home silverware. It sounds like you've found the joy in running again after a very mini and well deserved break :)

p.s. I'd have done the same with the old geezer, gone out all guns blazing and run off in the other direction :D

I reckon it's that. Though you never know, she might knock out a handy 30 miles around Santry :)

haha, the training started in October really, when I got back from hols, but I was always a little bit worried I wouldn't get in due to the numbers wanting to do it. It sold out very quickly. Thankfully now, the training wasn't in vain!
Ah, thanks for that. A few Boardsies in there, including yours truly! Oh, the memories...:)

    Monday December 12
    am: 7 miles recovery @ 10:14

    7 laps of local park
    pm: 6 miles recovery @ 10:05
...and then a very anxious wait for registration for Belfast 24 hour to open at 6pm! As I said above, I've been training as if I was going to get a place no problem, but the closer it got to the time, the more and more worried I got that I might not get in and might have to go on a waiting list or something (as many did in the end). I did everything possible to take my mind off it for the day and have a gleaming kitchen as a result! I sat at the pc from 17:30 hitting refresh until 18.00 (just in case it opened early!). Got my place a few minutes after 6 and was over the moon (but I think I mentioned that already ;) ).

    Tuesday December 13
    Rest

Was busy enough today, as I'm carrying out a bit of research work for Ed, the RD for Belfast 24H World Champs. They're putting together a website currently, and I'm compiling some information for development of same. It's very interesting work and great to be learning so much about the history of the 24 hour World Champs from the beginning, and researching into the past winners, and current champs. It's time consuming, but totally worth it!

    Wednesday December 14
    20 mile LSR @ 9:53

Went out to do the first of 2 doubles today, so 8 miles if feeling good. Turned out I was feeling better than good, so said I'd do 12, and then sure, why not do 15, and sure now I've done 15, I might aswell do 20. Park a bit flooded in places but throroughly enjoyable all the same. 17 laps of park and then 3 outside the park as it was too dark from 5pm to run there anymore.

    Thursday December 15
    am: 5 miles easy @ 10:16

OMG I felt rotten this morning! Legs etc were perfectly fine and ready to deal with anything I was going to throw at them, but my breathing was a disaster! I had to stop a few times and no matter how slowly I went I didn't feel any better. I guess the 18 on Sunday and the 20 yesterday was bound to have an effect on me along with the fact that I slept very poorly last night.
    pm: 9 miles easy@ 9:41
Felt like a different person on my run this evening. Totally effortless and breathing perfect and felt very strong. 21 laps of my night-time loop around the estate.

Hey A, congrats on the successful entry!
Luckily I was one of the chosen few also. I had no idea it was going to be sold out so quickly so I was really fortunate to catch the Facebook countdown of entries from Ed which allowed me to enter just before they were all gone!

Suffering a dose of a cold at the moment but can't wait to get out there training in earnest!
My last (& only) run there in 2013 was quite similar to your report, albeit in different locations.
I'd be happy with the 100 miles again but I guess the next target would be 200km which I'd be over the moon with.
Anyways, we'll see how the training goes!

I'm doing Barca in March and contemplating Connemara Ultra in April with a few B2B weekends from there through to early July.
Have yet to build any more flesh around those bones so will be keeping an eye here for tips!

    Friday 16 December
    8 miles easy @ 9:30

Effort very easy - surprised the pace was so fast (for me).

    Saturday 17 December
    am: 7 miles @ 10

Sluggish slog with a few strides.
    pm: 7 miles @ 9:29
Felt great and was zipping along nicely in the lovely cool nighttime air on my favourite short loop.

    Sunday 18 December
    11 miles easy @ 9:43

Today was very messy to fit training around. For a start I only slept for about 3 hours last night, and had to do a very early airport collection this morning, followed by other stuff, so my planned morning hill sprints in the Phoneix Park didn't happen. Can't wait until the New Year when everything is back to normal as I hate being out of my usual routine. Xmas and everything that goes with it messes everything up! I was extremely tired this afternoon and did consider dropping the run completely today, but those negative thoughts really only lasted a few minutes. Enjoyed the run immensely once I'd warmed up a bit. 10 laps of park.

    Monday December 19
    am: 7 miles easy @ 10:12

Foot a little niggley on Sunday night in bed. It felt ok on this run but I took things very handy just in case.
    pm: 8 miles easy @ 9:49

    Tuesday December 20
    am: 8 miles easy @ 9:54

The other foot was a bit niggley in exactly the same place today so I'm putting it down to the very old Brooks ST5's I've been wearing lately. I love wearing these lighter shoes but they've had their day so will have to be binned, sadly.
    pm: 8 miles easy @ 9:20
All niggle-free again. Felt super on this run, but kept things nice and relaxed just in case the feet started acting up again. Same effort as the morning run, but way faster. Always run faster in the evening.

    Wednesday December 21
    8 miles easy @ 9:49

Today was to be another double day, but I'm extremely tired due to being on strong painkillers for some stomach cramps, and all I wanted to do was sleep all day. Was glad I dragged myself out though, as I really enjoyed it a few miles in, but decided not to push things by going out again tonight. Had a lovely little sleep during the day.

    Thursday December 22
    am: 8 miles easy @ 9:56

Felt absolutely rotten. Every mile was a slog. Had to stop a good few times to catch my breath. Was supposed to do my long run today, but no way in the world was I capable of anything like 25 miles.
    pm: 8 miles easy @ 9:19
Wonderful run. Effortlessly glided along and the effort was so easy. Felt like I could have done the long run this evening, but that'd be really pushing things after the 8 this morning so it'll have to wait! Hopefully I'll get it done before the 25th when I'm taking a few days off, but not sure how I'm gonna fit it in, so we'll see...

    Friday 23 December
    8 miles easy @ 9:22

Had to work most of today and was shattered by the end of the day. I got home and looked out the window at the rain and the wind (admittedly the rain wasn't too bad at that stage) but the wind was howling and I just felt so tired, it took every bit of energy I could muster to drag myself out the door. A half mile into it I was absolutely flying and the wind didn't bother me at all. In fact, I felt fantastic. Think I'll give up running in the mornings as I always feel so crap, whereas in the evenings, I'm consistently much faster and more full of energy. All felt truly easy.

    Saturday 24 December
    6.5 miles bleugh @ 10:02

Felt awful. Definitely have a bit of a cold coming on and didn't sleep last night (must be too excited at the prospect of Santa coming ;) ).
So that's all for now folks! No long run this week as I'm not running tomorrow, so it'll have to wait.  Want to wish anyone who reads this a very merry Christmas, and to thank you for all the support this year. It's meant a lot to me, and I'm so happy to be back logging properly again since all the rubbish that went on here earlier this year and last year when I had to lock the log. Logging here really adds to my enjoyment of my training as I do it all alone, so it enriches my running life. I'm taking a bit of a break for a few days now (not sure how many but 4 at least) and will be back hopefully, fighting fit and rearing to go for January 2017! Have a good one :)
