    Hi,

I have a Toshiba 42Z3030D and trying to use it with Soarview. It has an input digital tuner and it is able to see the channels available, but cannot display the video nor audio (radio works OK). It even will display the subtitles.

A quick google suggests contacting Toshiba to get a firmware upgrade, as there's no USB connection I can see on the TV.

Has anyone used this TV with Soarview, is there a setting that I'm missing. I was hoping that I could upgrade it myself but there's no USB as mentioned.

    Many thanks,

Im almost certain that model Toshiba is before the Saorview was introduced and has an MHEG2 tuner for digital in England and not a MHEG4 tuner required for Ireland's Saorview.

A firmware upgrade wont solve your problem however only other thing I can suggest is to ensure you have the tv set to Ireland when tuning and if picture is still blank and only displays the radio's then its definitely MHEG2 only and will require a Saorview box in order to receive the Saorview channels.

Link to a manual for your set.

That model goes back to 2007 and as steveon say above it only has an MPEG-2 video decoder, an MPEG-4 video decoder is required for Saorview reception. A Saorview STB will be required if using the TV for Saorview reception.

Cheers thanks. That would make sense from what I'm seeing at my end.

So the firmware won't add the decoder I need? I presume these are hardware decoders that are unlike running a program on a PC?

    No, it's hardware based.
