I had two bottles of Bulmers earlier and I'm now on the red wine.
I'd never seen Home Alone until this week and I love it.
Tomorrow we're having champers while opening pressies and wine with dinner, then either more wine or cider that night.

I don't drink at Christmas, I know I'm funny that way but I hate seeing families drunk at Christmas.
    * I mean proper drunk, not sharing one bottle of wine for dinner.

We don't drink for Christmas so it'll be a few bottles of Shloer and whatever else is around!

Seen home alone once. Back to the future isn't an xmas film for me personally. I'll be drinking bottled stout and whiskey tomorrow. Happy Christmas to you too :)

I'm the same. I remember a few years ago my mother, who very rarely drinks, got drunk on Christmas Day. Kind of upset me as it felt like she wasn't really there, in her drunken world.

Same, because everyone fights, gets bitchy and strive for pointless digs. Personally, in my family, it's the women.....pure and utter ****. The men are just stupid and happy :)

    I hate family :)

    What?

Yeah I know, it's weird, I'd only ever seen clips of it.
Bought Home Alone 1 and Home Alone 2 on DVD and I'm gonna watch the second tomorrow :)

While cooking dinner for the 20 of us tomorrow my mum, sister and I will have our traditional malibu and orange juice. Then I will have a glass of wine with dinner and probably a few more later on in the evening.

Haven't had time to watch much tv, just had a family night Sunday watching Elf and that will be it til Boxing Day when I can catch up with some relaxation after have fed all 20 people again!

My mum's a bit pissed right now, which never happens. It's cute - except she wants me to sing The Rose of Tralee with her.

I do. As does the rest of my family. We drink and drink till we are drunk and manage it. Its one of the few times of the year we are all together for more than 12 hours so we make the most of it. We eat loads, drink loads, talk loads, play loads of board games, watch loads of crap tv and enjoy it loads.

    Loads of fun

Bulmers Berry tomorrow, saving the Rekorderlig I got for Stephen's Day when I'll need something vaguely decent to get me through family time.

We all have a few drinks at Christmas, but the alcoholic aunt (doesn't everyone have one?) isn't coming on St. Stephen's Day so it should be smoother sailing than usual.

Think a fine wine will do for Christmas dinner tomorrow.

Followed by Jager bombs on St. Stephens night.

Given that I'm awake now I'll probably need a nap tomorrow, going to wait until after that before I start drinking, always horrible to wake up after a drunk nap.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 767 ✭✭✭SimonQuinlank

Last two days have been on the gargle pretty hard, and will be again tomorrow once dinner in my friends (which I would avoid if I could) is out of the way.

Only redeeming factor of Christmas for me is drinking, rest is all false pretending you give a crap about people you really dislike,or keeping up with the idiot 'jones' on Facebook bull****.

I couldn't argue. The place would sell wine after hours if they know you.

I didn't buy any alcohol and wasn't planning on drinking, but my mum gave me a bottle of rum so it'd be rude not to. :)

Cider today and Guinness tomorrow evening in the pub.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,721 ✭✭✭Corvo

Few glasses of red wine, few bottles of beer.

Tomorrow is the birthday so will enjoy some nice champagne with breakfast and then head to the pub for a few pints if Guinness.

I can't actually believe that somebody has never seen Home Alone. What the actual ****? Disgusting

Myself and my girlfriend made pancakes and watched Home Alone last weekend. I watched Home Alone 2 yesterday along with National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and Die Hard.

I had 3 pints in the pub with my Dad last night. The place erupted into Happy Birthday at midnight followed by The Boys of Fairhill. I'm not really a drinker so that's probably all I'll have this Christmas.

Myslef and mother have already had a bottle of champagne between us. She's twisted but im grand and ive had 3 beers as well! Sure im only gettin started. Dinner won't be until about 7 or 8 i think,

Started on champers, some white, some rose. Had a glass of Bordeaux with dinner, just pouring some brandy now, that'll do me for a couple of hours, might have a bottle or two of beer later.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,821 ✭✭✭fussyonion

I've also never seen It's a Wonderful Life or Gone with the Wind.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,779 ✭✭✭✭osarusan

Waited until the kids and wife were in bed last night, which was about 9. Then poured myself a double measure of this beauty and relaxed for a while.

Spent the day in friends house for dinner and stuff, have had 10 or 11 beers over 5/6 hours and am tipsy-ish at this stage.Asked her if I could borrow a beer out of her stash that I'd replace tomorrow but was told no,so its off home to drink the wine I had one stage intended giving my annoying neighbours.I hate Christmas.

I got de-alcoholised wine and himself got alcohol free beer for that reason. I'd hate my kids to think back and remember boozy Christmas day. I know I could go schloer or similar, but I find them so sweet that my teeth hurt thinking of it!

We had a slight routine change and had champagne with brunch and towards end of cooking dinner we had a baby guinness each. Then I just had a glass of red with dinner. Didnt drink much for the rest of the night and when playing trivial pursuits at 1 in the morning switched to club orange!
