i agree that it is one ofthe best but for me Damon Hill nearly winning the 1997 Hungarian Grand Prix is a big stand out one for me,Hockenheim 1999 perhaps???Salo being ordered to surrender certain victory

1998 Belgian grand prix. A massive pile-up at the start, Schumacher running into the back of Coulthard later in the race and then storming into his garage afterwards to confront him. Oh, and a Jordan 1-2 as well :)

Hungary 1997 for me...and not just because I was there as an overexcited Damon Hill supporting 15 year old...

Monza 1998 and Valencia 2012, both fantastic races.

Was a huge fan of Schumacher, and Monza in 98 was amazing, the lead changing twice in about 400 yards, just brilliant.

Valencia had everything, and Alonso driving that tractor Ferrari gave him from 12th to win the race, and seeing him as emotional on the podium as he was, really brilliant.

Indianapolis 2005, 6 cars out of 20. Was a weird race to watch, really pissed off that Rubens didn't win.

Would have to be Imola 94 of course, but as I was lucky enough to be in Spa in 98 then that is the best memories

that had to be the most cruel race of them all,a 50p washer seal robbed arrows and hill of certain victory, that had to be the shock of the last 2 decades, even vettel winning monza 2008 doesnt rate better IMO

i remember watching that, michelin were sour at not getting there own way in that race over there mistake,in paul stoddart's eyes though minardi's finest hour

monza 98 was brilliant, the battle with hakkinen and schumacher the highlight as you say, valencia 2012 for me was good as it seen schumacher (very luckily) back on the podium,he should have renewed his contract for 2013

if i could set up a poll on this i would,be good to see but looks like belgium 98 is the most popular so far

Monaco 1982 for me, Monaco 1984 was full of surprises as well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,286 ✭✭✭ankles

Monaco 1982. The early days of watching it and the attrition of Monaco added to a late rain shower caused absolute chaos. Great fun

Sennas last win in Brazil was magic, forget the year early 90s :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,586 ✭✭✭V.W.L 11

monaco 82 was crazy, the 84 race a joke, prost knew if the race wasnt stopped senna would have won and as for senna winning in brazil only ferrari winning at monza could be compared

If the race wasn't stopped the likely winner would have been.....Stefan Bellof in his Tyrell

Belloff was catching Senna faster than Senna was catching Prost.

Stefan Bellof was catching both Prost and Senna when the race was red flagged.

Tyrell were later disqualified from the championship in very questionable circumstances which means Bellofs 3rd place is wiped from the records.

European GP in 93. Pissing rain in Donnington. Senna went from 5th down the Craners to 1st by Coppice, and didn't look back. It showed truly what an absolute rain master he was. Through the pits 5 times, once without stopping, and set fastest lap on one of them. SImply brilliant.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,822 ✭✭✭Mickey H

1996 Spanish Grand Prix. Schumacher's 1st win for Ferrari. Also, Belgium 1998.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,285 ✭✭✭✭Jordan 199

1998 Belgian GP without a doubt.

The 2003 Brazilian GP is also a memorable one.

was it that race that prost made a record 7 pitstops?

yeah 2 very good races, the f**k up by the stewards over who got the victory was crazy, fisichella couldnt celebrate his first victory properly, remember japan 89???they took their time to sort that one out to make sure senna did not take to the top step that day but jean-marie belestre had a lot to do with that, unlike japan 1990 when he didnt get involved "amazingly"

It very much is. And Johnny Herbert only stopped once and came 4th.

Montreal 2011. Gutted for Schumacher to miss out on the podium that day. Vettel spinning on the last lap added to the excitement

herbert himself had a brilliant race in nurburgring 1999

Canada 1997 with accidents and turfs of grass, safety car, 10 penalty for Schumacher and for him to come back and win the race. Very enjoyable race. Monza 2004 was total Ferrari dominance. A case of we are actually holding back watch what we really can do. Schumacher spun on the first lap and pulled himself back into contention and ended up second behind barichello. Very exciting last pitstop for barichello as he emerged into the lead ahead of button and at the same time Schumacher was overtaking button for second.

Spa 2000 is another very memorable race. A proper battle between the 2 best drivers in the world at the time...and of course that overtake!

if Zonta moved over it would've been carnage, hakkinen was lucky the move worked out

That race gets my vote. Championship at stake, both contenders made bad decisions, a very unlikely winner and who could forget Luca Badoers tears.

badoer's emotions alone when he retired were nearly better than herberts victory

Glock's poor pitstop passed me by before, the 4 seconds he lost there made some difference in the end!

Yeah, I completely missed that when I watched live. This is the first time watching since the actual race itself.

Lord I forgot how crap James Allen was.

How so? If we're covering that again I'll just say what I always say, he finished up more than 5 seconds behind Hamilton, he couldn't get the power down at all on his slicks.

never seen the race, currently have it recording on SSF1 until i see it i'm convinced he back off the throttle a bit to much even with the slicks but i am willing to be corrected upon watching it

Someone had the sector times for the last lap up somewhere. Both Toyotas on slick tyres did moreorless the same lap times.

There were a few different feeds and as far as I remember the one ITV had didn't show it so well. There's a few clips on Youtube and I think it's the feed that showed the Ferrari lad smash something in the garage was the one ya see Glock squirming all over the place on the straight.
