I just cant seem to get into the holiday spirit.

i only get xmas day off work this year and hate my job cos it pays crap and is mind numbingly boring.

I have a good amount of time off and am looking forward to the food. Then again I have a lot of work to do. Not overly excited tbh.

I'm just not feeling the Christmas spirit this year, maybe I'm not drinking enough. I've definitely not got any goodwill to all men left either, that includes women too. I'm an equal opportunites scrooge this year.:D

Yes, for some reason, I am VERY excited. I've had a terrible year but lately thing are on the turn for the better, and I'm beginning to feel hopeful again. It's a powerful sensation. I usually don't like New Year's Eve as it often makes me feel a bit sad, but am really, really looking forward to it this year, even though I'll likely just be staying in eat goodies and talk shíte to my parents' cat. :)

    Should be okay now.

Just looking forward to having some time off to be honest, a stressful few months. I don't really get excited about much at all.

I get 3 weeks off starting tomorrow cos I need to use up my leave. How am I going to cope with this free time? I do love my job at the moment.
Christmas is bearable but meaningless as I don't believe in God.

I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!! I AM SOOOOOO EXCITED!

driving my work colleagues mad though. some people just dont like Christmas which I can understand. But I love Christmas and spend my whole year waiting for it.

No, it's like so commercial and disgusting and as a committed atheist the trappings of religion makes me sick.

Hopefully I'll find out if my mother got me an Xbox One after we get back from midnight mass.

Getting on a plane back to Ireland tomorrow. First christmas in Ireland for a couple of years. Living in the Canary Islands. Christmas is sterile out here. So this year Im looking forward to it.

    I love christmas, always have
Its the only day of the year I get up earlier than the kids

Its the one day of the year you get to enjoy, forget about lifes troubles till Jan or in my case the 27th of Dec when I go back to work

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,903 ✭✭✭Napper Hawkins

"Happy Xmas, Napper! Haven't seen you since last year!"

There's a reason for that, you ****ing kunt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 731 ✭✭✭Butterface

I'm back in Ireland for 3 weeks so I'm excited about meeting up with friends and family I don't see very often.
Also breaking my detox and drinking a lot of red wine and pigging out a bit. That's pretty much what Christmas is about these days, isn't it? And presents.. although I don't get very many these days!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,375 ✭✭✭Sin City

Christmas is bearable but meaningless as I don't believe in God.

You dont need to believe in God to enjoy xmas

I dont believe in God either
But I do believe in presents, family xmas dinner and either Indie on some Star Wars movie playing somewhere in the background while I enjoy my Jack and coke

Oh hells, yes. Favourite time of the year.

I haven't felt the "Christmas spirit' in a long time. Which is a shame, because I used to love it. Probably a symptom of being generally dissatisfied with my career and lifestyle. Has a knock on effect, I can't switch off and get into the mood.

I'm looking forward to all the friends being home and heading out for a few good parties. I've about a week off work too, without having to take holidays. I think I'd be just as excited if the same situation happened any time of the year though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,269 ✭✭✭GalwayGuy2

    Not really :o

There'll probably be lots of stress, shouts and cursing.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,987 ✭✭✭Legs.Eleven

Ridiculously so. Flying out Sunday at 10pm (what kind of time is that for a flight?) and I've all this time in between to kill.

This time next week I'll be in the pub!

    Hoooopla!

Lol, Grandeeod. Be careful who you say that online to.

I meant it as more of a 'Grrr, not sure how to cook turkey' rather than 'grr, my life sucks'. :p

Christmas will be crap this year I feel sad even thinking about it

Not really due to personal family circumstances, actually can't wait for it to be over. I usually love Christmas but this year will not be fun.

Well if it helps, my wife lost her father to cancer two weeks before Christmas, a few years back. I salute her bravery. It was a very very hard time for her and my respect for her carries over to this day. She felt so raw and filled with grief, that I don't know how she got through it, but she did. Chin up if you can.

If there wasn't Christmas, there would be some other mid-Winter festival. They been happening since ancient times, and we bloody well need them!

I'd literally hate to be you. Not because you don't believe in God; I don't either. But if you can't find something enjoyable to do during your three weeks off work, then I feel sorry for you, TBH. It's mid-winter, it's dark, you don't have to be religious to be happy there's something to cheer us all up at this Northerly latitude at this time of year.

I'm really looking forward to Christmas :) I didn't go mad this year, just got a few bits. Had a bit of a tough year so it's nice to put that behind me.

Plus I got engaged today and I'm expecting a baby so it's nice for it to at least finish on a high note!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,820 ✭✭✭FanadMan

Nope - hate this time of the year, every year. Well, since santa stopped coming, it hasn't been the same. Roll on mid January!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 980 ✭✭✭Freddy Smelly

    not bothered about it either

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,463 ✭✭✭KTRIC

I believe in God but have no interest in the scheduled religious holidays appointed by the catholic church.

I'll spend the day at home alone in front of a roaring fire, the same as any winter day off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,251 ✭✭✭Pang

Can't wait! I have resisted the temptation to open any of my presents so really looking forward to Christmas morning.

I ignore it. Dont buy presents for anyone or send any cards though herself adds my name to some that she sends. For the last 7 years I've flown to the Southern Hemisphere for a months holiday in the summer sun which I'm doing again this year leaving on the 26th :)
