Temperature gauge?

Thanks to fergal, I have a bunch of information on my Yamaha outboard. But I was wondering if, when I get around to giving it a good service, would it be possible to fit it with a temperature gauge?

It worries me not to know how it is performing until it starts spluttering and banging. Is there a specific kit for this sort of upgrade and should the gauge operate within a specific temperature range.

    Many thanks, as usual.

If you have a spare bolt hole in the head or water jacket you can fit one of these.

If not you can get one that bolts under one of the cylinder head bolts.

Other than that just keep an eye on your peehole and feel the water every so often it should never be too hot to touch.

Great stuff and thanks again fergal. I would be happier having a gauge tht I could keep an eye on. Nice to know it's do-able.

I use a pressure gauge myself, they are a great indicator of how good the impeller is, also it means never checking over your shoulder for a pee stream. they are easy to install as well.
