MacBookPro7,1 HDD

Hi.

My MBP (7,1) HDD is on its way out (became read only after upgrading to mavericks, keeps going to read only via an ubuntu live cd + can not install onto it).

So I am thinking of buying a new HDD for it, anyone know of a good fit for this?

I've had a good experience with the samsung 840 evo SSD. Fast, light, and you can get a version that comes with a usb to sata cable so you can clone your current drive before you do the swap.

+1 on the Samsung. Phenomenal difference in performance over standard drive. Even if your original drive was fine it's still worth the upgrade to SSD. You'll need to install Trim enabler though.
