Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Futurism - Manic Street Preachers

Think that Manic's album is called Futurology. Here's hoping that Jai Paul finally offers a legitimate release in the coming year; his 'album' leak was hands down the best thing I've heard all year.

I just checked it and yeah, it is called Futurology. My mistake.

Wild Beasts have a new record in early 2014... 'more melodic and pop' according to NME.

Love every single one of their albums so far and have no doubt this one will be great too.

I was also looking forward to Metronomy until I heard the new single, now I'm apprehensive (as I loved their last 2 records).

I can't find any info on the release of their new album. I only know they released the new song Wanderlust recently.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,811 ✭✭✭Stompbox

James Vincent McMorrow album out today, listening now...reminds me a lot of Bon Ivers second album.

Ugh, I see this line touted a lot about his new album. Next album will be written and recorded in a turf shed high in the Wicklow mountains. He clearly buys into the comparison as his girlfriend's name is indeed Emma.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,863 ✭✭✭seachto7

It was touted for the first album as well. A house down in Dingle? I prefer to just listen to Bon Iver.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Think some are being harsh on McMorrow. He's one of Ireland's finest singers IMO. His tone of voice is similar to Iver's but his voice isn't, it just seems any male singers singing at a higher pitch are all lumped together.

Second album is a triumph too.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 4,726 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gonzovision

Gave it a listen last night. Definitely deserves some repeat plays. Impressed even on first listen. Will probably go see him in Kilkenny in a few weeks.

Sleep Thieves releasing their second full length album some time in the spring. Really looking forward to that as the Islands EP was a big step up from the debut album.

Trust release their second album Joyland on March 4th. Really liked their first one, hoping this one will be as good.
    First single is Rescue, Mister.

Teenage Fanclub due an album this year too. Already recorded in France last year. Think it's due about September according to their website.

In the meantime there's the very appealing prospect of Norman Blake's New Mendicants (with Tom Pernice) releasing a record this month.

It's Joe Pernice, but yeah should be good. I saw them in Whelans in July and they were excellent. Went and bought a load of Pernice Bros cd.s after the gig. Wasn't really aware of them before that.
