Well its time to hand over the mic to a new victim interviewee, and this week, for one week only, its the turn of our resident rodent royalty, the inimitable RacoonQueen. Find out if she is really a quiet little mouse, or a wolf in sheeps clothing......

Because I am first, I get to do the BEST question:
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FLAVOUR OF CRISPS??

What is your best discipline of swim bike run?
What is your favourite discipline of swim bike run?
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
How many bikes do you have?
Your most expensive bit of kit?
    Biggest ooops moment?
How many bars of chocolate could you eat in one sitting?

1 (b) €100m to spend - Messi or Ronaldo for Leeds?
    2. Do you consider yourself a runner or triathlete?

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FLAVOUR OF CRISPS??

This is highly dependant on the brand.
I'm a lover of salt and vinegar. Never been a big fan of cheese and onion but was always partial to a crisp sandwich with tayto cheese and onion (no more of that now :( )
    Hunky Dorys - buffalo flavour
Pringles - original or cheese and onion
What is your best discipline of swim bike run?
Run would probably be the one I'm least crap at
What is your favourite discipline of swim bike run?
Run, by far what I enjoy the most and so so much easier time wise. I don't know how you guys with kids fit it all in...not having kids means you probably don't appreciate your spare time as much.

How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Sports shoes or non-sports shoes? :pac: You will get a fairly big difference in the number there. One could be counted on one hand, the other needs a calculator to assist. :D
How many bikes do you have?
I only have 2...my old road bike (William) and the new Argon roadie (Richard) I had planned on having a good shot at 2013 season and was considering maybe getting a TT for 2014 but, yeah that didn't happen.
Your most expensive bit of kit?
Collectively all my running shoes :D on one item the argon. Never saw myself spending the guts of 3 grand on a bike (that I've now barely used, I'm a bit precious about not letting him get damaged and stuff)
    Biggest ooops moment?
This is the question I've though about the most, literally have no idea...I do stupid things all the time it's hard to decide which has been the most stupid.
Maybe the bus crash incident a couple of weeks after I got William...bus swerved in in front of me and rather than trying to stop and going into the back of him I tried to get up on the path and ended up in swollen, sore and in bits in general for about 6 weeks :(
How many bars of chocolate could you eat in one sitting?
I've never tried more than two. Possible challenge here...

    25 :)

Was always going to happen once Fergie left. They've had a poor team for a few years. Facebook was hilarious for a few weeks at the start of the season ''Moyes out''. Get a grip.
1 (b) €100m to spend - Messi or Ronaldo for Leeds?
You could buy 5 whole championship teams with 100m!
Messi is so talented and is not a primadonna, I'd go for him over anyone...Ronaldo would just spend all his time sitting on the grass shrugging his shoulders with the tackles in the championahip.
    2. Do you consider yourself a runner or triathlete?
A runner, I'm far too young to be a triathlete ;)
My main focus still is running...I love swimming and I'm working hard to improve swimming. I would hazard a guess that unless by some miracle I became really good at tri that I will always be a runner.
    3. Baking - self-taught?
Yep, my mother has trouble taking a shop bought cake out of a box so learnt nothing from her. Used to do a lot of baking in my early teens and lost interest for years. Books and youtube teach you a lot...I think I got into it because after my aunt passed away in 2009 someone in the family needed to take over the christmas cake and pudding duties.
    4. Boardsie scalp you'd most like to take in 2014?
    Yours! :P
    5. Ironman - when and where?
Initial thoughts were Austria 2015...now maybe Austria some year after 2015. I haven't actually done a half yet despite entering one in 2012 and one in 2013...when I step up to Ironman it'll be to give it a good shot so want to wait till I'm 100% ready. Ideally have some actual bike training done...

100% - I think SAFs greatest achievement was his last 2 seasons, with a very mediocre squad.

BTW - did you watch the Keane - Vieira thing last night? Keane still looked like he was 5 seconds away from levelling Big Pat:)

    Yours! :P

Will need to pick my races carefully, so.

Yeah I turned it on about halfway through when the twitter machine was going crazy. What struck me most is that there are no rivalries like that in the premiership anymore....and that was all only a few years ago  Imagine Nani getting the sort of slaps Keane got?!

I let you win in 2012, you've already beaten me in 2014 based on my current plans ;)

    Why do you support Leeds?

    Why not? :)
Dunno really, Leeds were always my club before I had an interest in football...I think it was because my friend supported Liverpool because her brother did and I didn't want to support the same club as her. I always liked to be awkward and different. :D
Then Leeds started getting good and I realised I'd made a good choice. Then... :(

Are you doing London next year, if no then why?

I'm 99.9% on for deferring. The main reason being I have absolutly zero interest. VLM 2013 taught me not to run a marathon when your heart isn't in it. It's a whole different kind of suffering.
Have you ever really committed to a marathon fully, if no then why?

I've pretty much always trained for them to the best of the ability and knowledge I have at the time. Barcelona 2010 was by far my best training cycle and my most devastating run all rolled in to one. The run up to it and the race couldn't have gone any worse. After that I was never well enough to train continuosly, but for the first 3/4 marathons I did, I commited and trained to the best of my ability. Until London...January to March was perfect, training was pretty impeccible. I battered myself down a bit but really because I always expect more from myself. Why go out for next weeks interval session if you don't think you can do better than you did this week?

If you did fully commit to a marathon what time would you be hopeful for and whats the current pb?

Current PB, officially, is 3:39:57 from DCM 2011 when I wasn't supposed to be doing any training. :D DCM 2011 and National half 2011 probably two of my best ever performances...maybe because I took to the start line of both relaxed with no expectations. Ran faster through 26.2 in Donadea 2012 and faster again in a 26.2 'training' run but they don't count.

This years VLM was probably going to be my best shot at a good marathon, I was working 5 minutes away from home, getting plenty of sleep, going home for lunch every day so was eating well and was rested so every training session was a good one. Despite the fact I knew my heart wasn't in it all of the above was why I still went and gave it a shot. The whole complete disinterest was new to me, I assumed I'd just get over it and I'd be fine once I got to the start line. Didn't realise the effect if would have on me on the day. Lesson learnt, the next marathon will be one I'm 100% fired up for. Sub 3:20 on the day should have been acheiveable, on a perfect day I still think I could have pushed 3:15...myself and Jim Mc had never discussed my target time but after the race, without knowing my splits or what I'd gone for he told me he thought I'd have run 3:15 to 3:20...which was pretty shocking, I usually think I can run faster than he thinks I can. :D

No idea when the next one will be so hard to predict what I'll go for as it would depend on how I progress. If I was to go again at any stage in 2014 it'd have to be for 3:15/3:20 again. I can't see myself bothering to run one again unless that in the least was acheivable.
When am i going to get some cake?
I've brought cake to races you didn't turn up to. Your bad, not mine. If theres a T/D/M christmas gig I might bring you some cake
Do you think you need a coach rather than be self coached?
    I don't think I'm coachable.
I wouldn't necessarily say I'm self coached entirely. I do to swim and run sessions with clubs. I wouldn't have a clue what to do swimwise if I wasn't getting help. If I was taking tri seriously I would consider getting coaching as I'd never get the balance right. Coaching would be hard for me to adjust to.
4 people from here you would have around for dinner, why and what would you ask them to bring with them?
Dory to teach me to swim. She can bring the chocolate to make the dessert with.
Oryx so people wouldn't bitch at me for having it all gluten free and for the back up.
You so we can entertain ourselves with your inability to swim and height. You can bring the prawns. :P
I was going to say Izoard for the fourth but he'd have me doing a Ironman by the end of the night.
enduro, because he's done some awesome things and I find the real adventure races he's done fascinating. None of this messing. Please bring white wine E.
Since when have you become less of a brick than me in the pool?
Since you had your last meltdown and declared that you were giving up swimming. :P
My eyes were on your times last year when we were all filling in the 400 TT thread because I knew they were acheiveable and I know you work hard and catching up would keep me on my toes. Though since you're male and men are faster than women, then I'm way better than you now. :p
Not a question, but just a reminder i am taller than someone on here!!

By about half an inch and only when you're in heels.

    As in, in a race?
I'd put that between hell of the west and glendalough this year. Glendalough was my first sub 30 1500 and I typically finished feeling like I could go faster.
HOTW, I wasn't nervous as such but I doubted my ability to swim in those conditions in a decent time but wanted to prove to myself that I could swim in those conditions at the same time. I was derlighted to find myself slinking right in and pulling out a decent time. Actually found the swim easy enough...shows the difference swimming in the group makes to starting behind it.
If you could punch anyone on Boards and get away with it, who'd it be?

Menoscemo. He can be a right annoying sh*t sometimes. :D
    Why "Racoon Queen"?

I've used the name onlne for about 10 years or so...just thought racoons werer pretty cool. It was once RacoonGirl before I was elevated to queen status.
Do you wish the AR and TDAR forums were still all the one ART?

Yeah, it's a right pain in the foot browsing between two forums...and the runners get so wound up by you guys. It's entertaining for me.
How far can you swim underwater on one breath?

We did this in a swim session a while ago...had to try it 10 times. 20 metre pool, most of my attempts were fails.
Who will you pick for next victim? (Given that its still technically Oryx's week:p)

That was my first thought...Fazz, JB, Izoard are all on my radar

Have you seen the "Lord of the Rings" film trilogy? If so, have you ever been inspired to make a similar lengthy, epic quest, to those far-far-away Dublin Mountains and maybe experience their trails?;)

Have never seen it so don't know what you're talking about ;)

I've always said I'd like to give mountain running a shot. I think it's something I'd really enjoy but I've always been between marathons really so never tried because it never fitted the plan. Suits the plan much better now and the magazine fort hills in the pheno will only keep me so strong so will be moving to the hillier south sometime in the new year.
How long can you plank for?

Uh my core fitness is dreadful at the moment. I have held one for over 5 minutes in the past with good form...now, I'd say I'd struggle to hold it properly for much longer than a minute. I'll try tomorrow evening and report back.

I should have said besides Meno. He's a given, cantankerous old git that he is. Must be that Nordie Prod influence;)

You should try and hitch an IMRA carpool down to Slogger's Annacurra race on March 1st, its a good mostly trail run that is a nice bridge between trail running and pure muck'n'shyte.
...and the runners get so wound up by you guys. It's entertaining for me.

:D Very true. I've yet to see a well-thought-out or entertaining put down. Like, they need to do a lot better than just assuming "lycra-clad=hahaha". Everyone knows lycra-clad equals figure-hugging equals sexy, across all cases, forms, ages. Throw in an expensive bike as support, and you've got the definition of an automatic Sex God. Beats the spittle-flecked-skinny-arms-frantically-working-towards-magic-sub40-10kPB-eyeballs-on-stalks-hairy-undercarriage-hanging-out-of-too-tight-shiney-shorts-look, in my eyes. :)

    3K 11:45
    5K 20:09
    4 miles 26:02
    5 miles - can't remember 34:xx
    10K - 44:55
    10 miles 70:31
HM - 1:38:xx officially, took a few minutes off that in the Midland 14.4 mile halm marathon in 2012
    Marathon - 3:39:57

Haven't done a road race, while fit in 6 months...dreading the return to racing.

If you had one year to train, what do you think you could run for 10k?

After running the 26 mins in Dunboyne in March I reckoned I could go low 42s. 10K focused training, everything going to plan, lets say 38:4x
    What is your favourite distance?

Half marathon, short enough to still need to go fast but long enough to feed the endurance monster
    Favourite/least favourite session?
I have a love/hate relationship with hill sessions. I actually enjoy
them and in races I tackle them well but never feel like I give hill sessions enough effort in training. Maybe thats why I enjoy them so much. :D but it's frustrating to feel as if you should be getting more out of them and not being sure how to do it.

Long runs are currently my least favourite run session. To make my replies to you somwehat T/D/M realated, I'll say turbo sessions, or any kind, so horrendously boring.
How do you chill out in the evening?
On the couch with either a book or the 3DS playing super mario or donkey kong (I'm a big kid at heart :D )
Which do you prefer, runner men or triathlete men?
Hate to say it, triathelete men (in general) are better looking. I'm happy to do a full on perving survey at my next race to ensure that this is still the case.

Next to her it'd probably be Keith Duffy...I don't think you guys would consider Leeds players as 'famous'
    Can you do a moonwalk?
Jesus no, I can barely walk forwards without mishap, imagine trying a moonwalk.
    Favourite running conditions?
Cold and calm with a bit of rain.
Will you be the top SBR hoochie this year? :)
Looks like it'll be tight...my lack of cycling could lose it for me. Running and swimming will be increasing but that won't improve my position. Once Izoard doesn't beat me it'll soften the blow if Oryx nabs it (or is dory planning a 31st December update?!)

    HI RQ!!!:)

Why did you name your bikes William and Richard?

Some may say willy and dick for short... :)
    Favorite show on the telly?

I've always been into crime things...CSI and Criminal Minds are what I'd always record to make sure I don't miss.
Can you swim butterfly for 25 meters?

Lol...nope. We're lucky I can do front crawl. Imagine be trying that, it'd be a disaster.
What swim toys do you own?

2 x pull buoy ( 1 normal and 1 big buoy), kick board, fins and paddles...my paddles are brutal though, need to get better ones.
Do you like how chlorine smells on your skin?

Chlorine is like the best perfume ever, right?
Any superstitions or rituals before or during a race?

I have a two song playlist I usually listen to on loop before running races. R Kelly's 'The Worlds Greatest' and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuMyUh26twQ
Do you prefer the atmosphere at triathlons or running races? And what are the differences in the two?

Triathlons have to be better. There's a much more upbeat, friendly atmosphere at triathlons. Random strangers will have a full blown chat with you as if they've known you for years. Try that on a run start line and you'll either get a look as if you're insane or you'll be ignore as they can't hear you because they've got headphones in.
Startline or run races is just a lot more serious. Maybe it mirrors why I'm more relaxed going into tris than I would be going into a run race.
What sports did you play as a kid? And when did you get into running? And how did you get into triathlon?

Was very good at football (soccer) for a girl anyway in primary school and really enjoyed it, played every day. Took up basketball when I started in secondary school and absolutely loved it. Probably the only sport I really excelled in, I moved schools for my leaving cert and never really played much again. I would give up everything I do now to play basketball at a decent level agian. Picked up a basketball in a sports shop a few weeks ago and my heart melted. Sadly as I stopped growing before all the other girls it made coaches show no interest in me anytime I've tried to go back, I was the one who was always double teamed and who'd mark the best player on the other team off the court, you can't tell someone who doesn't know anything about you that though. As a sport to play it is my one true love. :(

Played soccer again for one season (u16's) at the end of my basketball career and won the league...there wasn't really anything more for girls here then so didn't play that competitvely again.
Then I stopped doing any sort of sport for a couple of years until I picked up running at 19.

kingQuez, Iozard and Jackyback bullied me into doing a triathlon(mostly kQ). Bastards. I curse them when I'm having my regular meltdowns in the swimming pool.
If you were on the Dating Game (game where you would be the bachelorette, and would be given a choice of three bachelors whom you could talk to, but could not see....and after asking them a series of questions, you get to chose one to go on a date with), and if the three bachelors (whom you could not see and whom you would not know) were Kurt, Izoard, and Jackyback, which one do you think you'd pick and why?

I'm sure myself and Kurt would have some sort of arguement before it came to picking...so JB or Izoard...Izoard's running exploits might win me over.

Excellent - Not only do I win against The Hobbit and Dear Leader, but presumably we get an all-expenses day out to Bray or some such?

    so, RQ:
biggest change in training for next year?

I've recently made changes to run and swim training which are starting to show progress now. So hopefully once I stick to it, it'll show in my results. Probably won't make any other changes to training now unless I do something crazy like starting to cycle or something.
    why the focus on Austria?

Just based on race reports I guess. Plus it seems easy enough to travel to which is a bonus for lazy RQ.
What's your biggest fear( not specific to sport)

    A commited relationship :pac:
    Proudest moment in sport?
My first Connemara Ultra...my aunt was my inspiration for taking up running and had been due to travel to the race with me but was too ill. Remembering how proud she was of what I did and one of her last coherent sentences(or many of them because she kept asking :D ) before she passed away was to ask how my race went.

You just made me cry. I hope you're happy. :P

    Hey RQ

    What do you work at?

Currently doing IT support full time...and still doing a bit of sports therapy part time. Opened my own clinic a couple of years ago but had to give it up when I got sick. One of the reasons for doing it was to help facilitate a career change anyway so it fulfilled its purpose I guess.
How many sports clubs (tri, run, etc) are you a member of?

One run (Donore Harriers), one Tri (Pulse)...do some swimming with another tri club and some running with another run club though. Have considered joining a cycling club, thought I'd never rediscover a love of running during the summer so almost became a cyclist. Thank god that didn't happen. :D
    What's your favourite race?
Connemara Ultra...the ultra is the only race I've done in Connemara and I absolutely love it. Hard to describe why but there's something really 'special' about it.

BOTE is far and away my favourite of the triathlons I've done.
What would be your death row meal?

Since I can't eat gluten anymore would definitely be a huge burger with a proper burger bund and chips. With a side serving of breaded chicken. And a beer.
Will you be training Christmas day?

Of course. I'll do a 40 - 60 minute easy run. Then go home and make the Christmas morning fry up. :D
Could you survive without social media?

I'd suffer twitter withdrawal for a few days but I'm confident I'd get through it.
Have you a nemesis for the upcoming season?
There's one guy in the club who I don't want to see overtake me in swim and run...that'd kill me and a couple of girls I'm targetting yeah. One nemesis just isn't enough!

    Bates, Ridsdale, O'Leary.

Order in which you'd push them off a cliff, and why?

I'd consdier letting O'Leary live...he played with what he given. But, I'd like to strike fear into Bates and Riddler by letting them watch O'Leary go down. :pac:

How could I choose between those two bastards? Both dragged the club down in different ways, I wouldn't want Bates to stay on the edge of the cliff too long, give him too much time to try and sue me. Make hold hands and push them off together.

last two men on earth,,oisin or kandikane?

Unfair question. How could a girl choose between two strappingly handsome perfect gentlemen like Oisin and Ken.
dark choc or white choc brownies?

    Dark choc
    ballyer or purtobello?

Portobello....never thought I'd 'settle' in Ballyer though. The bonus of this kip is being so near the Phoenix Park. I don't think I'd ever have started all this crazy crap if I still lived in the Bello...I had no friends in Ballyer so had nothing better to do with my time.
did u have a bebo or myspace acc?

I had both. Neither exist anymore so no stalking.
which one of the inbetweeners are u most like?
    Probably Will :D

    Favourite distance in running?

Half marathon. The perfect mix of speed and endurance, plus it's probably my best distance. Generally I do better at HM than I expect to.
    Favourite distance in triathlon?

I've only done sprint and olympic. Definitely prefer olympic. Sprint is over too quickly
Swim set you dread the most?
    15 - 20 x 100m. Speed is not my friend.
Your best/favourite Leeds XI since you started watching them? You can pick and choose from different teams.

    Martyn
    Mills
    Radebe
    Matteo
    Dorigo
    Batty
    Derry
    Speed
    Dacourt
    Hulse
    Healy

Ross McCormack though...quickly becoming the new love of my Leeds teams :D

    It's a secret ;)

I'm swimming with Mr. Tango on Mondays. Was long, long overdue a change to swim training/coaching but wasn't able to make it. Just nothing else suited...I've a lot of work to do to look less like a female but faster Jackyback in the pool but can definitely feel the difference myself already. I was really pissed off with swimming at the time, have been going backwards this year which is incredibly frustrating. Still going to club swims on Friday's as I'd just paid for a block but am having regular meltdowns in those sessions, it now REALLY bothers me when I know my stroke has gone to complete sh*t and I don't really see the point in pushing through a session when I can't get the technique feeling right. What's the point in doing 5 x 200 and staying on someones toes if your stroke is all wrong? Waste of energy.

Running the same I've made a change to the coaching and now doing a different type of training to what I've been used to...no difference yet but thats due to my lack of run fitness more than anything.
    Favourite all time Leeds player?

John Charles. Waaaaaay before my time, but what an incredible player and a very inspiring man.
How many pairs of runners have you?

I have no idea anymore :o
Would say it's pushing on 30 now, in fairness many of them haven't been worn in a long time but I haven't gotten round to getting rid of them yet.
    Favourite pair of runners?

Saucony Fastwitch....once upon a time they were my speed work only shoes. Now they're my marathon shoe.

Yep, have been loads of times. Few years ago I was going twice a month.
Best one, I've been to not at ER but the sheer elation on seeing us actually score...

Sounds like you've been "coached" by several different running and swimming coaches, so, which coach has been the most productive/effective for you (and why), OR (if you'd rather not name names) what qualities in the coach/coaching have been most productive/effective for you?

What kind of coach would you be?

Tell me about your "dream date". Who, what, where, when, why?

    Do heights bother you?

    Do you like roller coasters?

Bambaata and Fazz....head to head in (you insert the distance here) tri. Which one brings you more pleasure to watch? And which one is your money on to win?
