    Hi guys!
Im trying to find out what the least calorific drink is ? I normally drink a bottle of wine or few cans of cider before heading out to a nightclub ,so i SERIOUSLY need to switch to a much lower calorie option! Please can any offer advice? Also on how not to gain weight when drinkin? Ive heard a few e.g not eating before going out etc.

Vodka and diet Coke or another 0 calorie mixer.

if anything eating more before going out would be better...

From a raw calories point of view a single shot (25ml) of vodka is like 60 calories so with a 0 sugar mixer, that is probably the lowest calorie count alcoholic drink you would get. Something like a bottle of Corrs Lite would be around 100.

I would think its best to look at this from the overall point of view, having a few odd drinks (of any type) every other weekend is not going to make or break your diet once you don't do the dog on it. Its drinking till your shít faced, followed with a take away on the way home and writing off the following day is much more damaging then swapping from Budwiser to Bud light or whatever.

Sipping on shorts or bottles and trying to swap rounds with a glass of water would seriously help too.

Norcal Margaritas if you are Paleo inclined.

    How do you figure that?

If you want to get to a certain blood alcohol level with the fewest calories then drinking fast on an empty stomach is going to be top of the list (bar injection of course!). Studies also show drinking with a diet mixer increases blood alcohol levels too.

I am not saying its the healthiest thing to be doing, could really irritate your stomach etc.

The study, which compared Smirnoff Red Label plus Squirt (a lemon-lime soda with no caffeine) with the vodka with Diet Squirt, found that the diet cocktail increased BAC by 18%. That’s almost as much as having an additional standard drink and was enough to tip people from being under the legal limit for driving to being unsafe to drive.

25ml is a uk size, its 35.5ml here. But you have to take amounts into account. people were going on about the "12 pubs of christmas", I was mentioning how 12 longnecks is only just under 7 pints of beer, and 12 vodkas is only 6.5pints worth of 4.3% heineken.

I would say to just stay out or rounds rather than pay the same price for tiny portions.

I have said before most "beer bellies" are really "chipper bellies". I find alcohol to have very little effect on my weight, but I drink a lot
weight gain was negligible in alcoholics who were given 2,000 calories of alcohol daily on top of the 2,500 calories from foods they consumed to maintain their weight. But when the same number of additional calories were fed as chocolate, a steady weight gain resulted.

Well I guess thats more related to what exactly is the goal? If you wanted to get as drunk as possible then empty stomach would be the way to go.

I just think (in my own opinion no medical proof to back this up) that alcohol on its own has no real affect on your diet unless you drink to an extreme level. It's more the knock on effects; agreeing 100% with the 'chipper belly' and also the following day could easily include "the cure" and remove any chance of doing any training/excerise.

I'm just saying if you want to drink, drink whatever you like but do it slowly over the night after having a proper meal and trying to sneak in some water when possible. Definitely having atleast a glass before going to sleep. That swapping to a "lite" beer has no real affect if your plan was to end up unconscious in some door way anyway

Alcohol cannot be stored as fat, once its consumed your body will burn nothing else (protein/carb/fat) to produce energy. Until the alcohol has completely left your system, any consumed calories then have the possibility to become stored as fat.

Meaning a big meal right before drinking is not a good idea, or any food after you've started drinking. Sugary mixers are a definite no. Low calorie beers like Coors light would be your best bet!

I heard this guy, author of The Good News about Booze - being interviewed recently - it was certainly interesting but he did say that beer was the exception and will still make you put on weight, as far as I remember.

    Still usually have sugar.

    standard erdinger
    Alcohol:5,3% volOriginal wort:12,6 °P Carbohydrates:2,6 g / 100 ml Kcal | KJoule:44 | 185 / 100 ml

    Erdinger NA
100 ml contain on average 500 ml = 1 serving
    Calorific content 107 kJ / 25 kcal
    Carbohydrates5,3 g
    hereof sugar 3,6 g

So about 1/3rd the sugar content of coke or apple juice.
