I enjoyed the first one for what it was, not a patch on season 1 or 2 but had its moments. Have to say I'm pretty disappointed they're sending them off on holiday again.

I just hope Greg Davies in this one more

Looking forward to this, even if its just on par with the last film, and doesn't reach the heights of seasons 1 & 2, I think it will still be worth a watch.

Brilliant build up and a right little teaser of a trailer!

Jaysus.. recycling a well-worn and obvious joke (we all knew what was coming with the car headlights) for a teaser.. this does not bode well!

Yeah, it's grand saying that when you know it's a trailer for The Inbetweeners, think about those who see it in the cinema for the first time, not having a clue. It'd be awesome!!

Sounds like a cash in. First one was pretty useless and didn't work as a film at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,333 ✭✭✭jonnyfingers

New trailer has been released. I think it's ok, not too many laughs, however on The Inbetweeners Facebook page they said they've tried to keep the best laughs out of the trailer so cinema-goers will be surprised when they go to see it, which is admirable if true.

I enjoyed the first one and would like to see the characters again so looking forward to this.

I hope it explains what happened to the women they ended up with in the first movie.

As much as I love the show and thought the first film was watchable, not really impressed by the latest trailer! As someone said earlier, I hope they are saving the best bits for the movie!!

    I don't believe that for a second.

This is out next week & so far there's been almost no PR & no reshowing of the series or tv screening of the original... not feeling hopeful :(

They are playing the same teaser trailer in Cineworld even though the full trailer has been out for a month and a half. It doesn't sound good when you don't hear anything as you said from the cast or any other kind of P.R. It doesn't seem they are making a bigger event out of this as they should maybe cause it's a big turd.

I liked the first two seasons quite a bit but have no interest in this at all.

Someone elsewhere mentioned this idea of them basing the film around a bunch of friends from secondary school who are back at home after finishing college and are awkwardly trying to revive their friendships and all from back home with varying results. I thought that sounded like something with a heap of potential, like the episode of Girls where Hannah is back at her parents or something. Don't expect this to try anything interesting here though.

I saw this today, thought it was pretty good. More giggle than laugh out loud, but pretty good. Feel like the kinda surprise reveal with wills mum at the end was a bit un-needed, and some of the stuff in it was over the top, but solid over all.

i preferred this to the original film. some very funny bits throughout but the ending felt very very rushed

Had written this off.. but most reviewers this morning seem to think it was far superior to the movie.

    Might go see it later..

Very disappointed with this movie.Have watched all the inbetweeners series over and over again and still find hilarious and really enjoyed the first movie, but this was ****.

This is crude, stupid and repetitive, but **** me it's hard not to laugh given how beautifully staged some of the setpieces are. Pretty much all but one major laugh (a campfire singalong) have a punchline that involves a bodily fluid or part of some description, but some of them are very funny indeed. Toilet humour is one of the lowest forms of comedy, but one or two scenes here couldn't care less and give it all they've got. The
    slide
scene is just about as good a
    **** joke
    as you could expect.

It's a better 'film' than the first. Visually it's much more robust, and jokes are also allowed to play out more leisurely - including one delightful static shot that plays out just long enough.

It's all over the place, and the third act like the first film is a mess. It also take a while to properly warm up, and the 'bants' miss as often as they hit. But you know what you're letting yourself in for: it's an Inbetweeners Movie. It's a much better effort than the first, and while that doesn't promote it into the realms of cinematic comedy gold by any stretch, it's more than sufficient for a handful of belly laughs and plenty of chuckles.

I've only seen a couple of episodes before but really enjoyed this. It's certainly no cinematic masterpiece, but there were plenty of suitably and expectedly low-brow laughs which is the main thing. I'm told by my companion that it was better than the first which on the strength of this, I'm going to have to check that out.

Be interesting to see if they can squeeze another movie out of this franchise before the lads look too old to be teenagers. They're already approaching it.

They will just move on to be students and then they will have young families

Thought this sequel was a horrendous idea as while I was a fan of the first 2 seasons of the series (third was very patchy), the movie just did not work at all.. felt very lazy and just a cash in.

But in saying that, this was far better than it should have been to be honest. The cast eased into their roles again effortlessly and while the first 15 - 20 minutes were a bit predictable, it definitely improved as it went on.. and found scenes like
Neil shuffling off towards the mirage
just very witty. Definitely felt the writing was stronger here than the first movie.

It's not high brow.. it's crude, gross-out comedy that excels in finding new terms for a penis or vagina.. but both judging by myself and the audience in the cinema this evening, it definitely has it's laughs.

It'll do well at the box office no mistakes.. it's not gain the show get any new fans, but it certainly went some way in making up for the horrendous first movie.

There's far better comedies out this year.. and far better movies out this week (*cough* "Guardians Of The Galaxy" *cough*).. but hey, I quite enjoyed it!

While they've discussed killing the characters off after this movie, presumably the box office will determine if there's life in the old dog yet..

While it was never going to be a classic it had the packed audience in stitches a few times. Much better than the first movie lots of laughs, good entertainment. Leaving the theatre i felt i couldn't ask for more from it.

I wasn't a fan of the shows, went to see the first movie and didnt find it funny at all. Was practically dragged to this last night (the que for tickets was down the stairs, there was about 70 people in front of us) and have to say it was hilarious. Some very funny moments in it

Blake Harrison's said that this is to be the end but I'm pretty sure that we've heard that before.

saw it last night, again went with very low expectations (its the sequel of a TV adaptation) . Its crude as hell, but I found it genuinely funny, and far more rounded than the first movie

    What happened afterwards with the
    rape whistle
was just as funny. All the scenes at the waterpark and when
simon tried to drink Neil's piss or when he proposed to his girlfriend instead of breaking up with her
    were hilarious

Yes it was a nice surprise.

Must Say I thoroughly enjoyed this. Miles ahead of the original film.

That being said, I feel like it strayed from the series abit, I think what made the inbetweeners tick was the ****ty uniforms and shenanigans in suburbia. I would have liked to seen the return of some characters from the original series like Donovan and Carly.

Ending seemed rushed, and if im honest, if that's the end I'll be sorely dissapointed. The potential for a third is definitely there. A more sentimental film thats not afraid to take itself seriously in parts. If capitalism is anything to go by we'll get a trilogy.

Saw it last night and it is far better than the 1st movie. Lot more simple humour, it felt very clichéd the first one. Neill was in this a lot more and it helped as his character provides the most laughs.

Just to echo a lot of the other posters, saw this yesterday and found it quite an improvement on the first one. Quite a few hilarious scenes. Helped that I saw it with an Australian.

I'm going to take back what I said.

I saw this today - was the only person in the cinema - very strange sensation, but it was the first show of the day.

It's a very well rounded film & genuinely shows a maturation of the characters & also the relationship between them.

Although I was the only one in the cinema, there were a lot of times where I was cracking up & I'd say with a full screen it would have been a fantastic experience. I'd actually love them to do a return to TV now with them as adults but I think a third one is a shoe-in.

My only problem with it was
Will's mum & the headmaster which I thought was forced & not that funny at all & also the crazy girlfriend because I don't remember her character like that in the first.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

I get the impression that Will's gf from the first movie was slated to be the main female in this one but they couldn't get her or something? She would have slotted in perfectly as the lover of all things travel, including the douchey antagonist.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,305 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Prodston

I saw it tonight and it was absolutely fantastic. It was achingly funny at times. I thought it was miles ahead of the 1st one and just felt more natural. Must say I was shocked when it was over, I was expecting another 30 minutes but I guess that's a great complement when it flew by so fast.

Absolutely delivered what I expected and more!

    The scene in the
    water park
was an orgy of laughs from start to finish, the
    campfire
    was brilliant too!

    I didn't expect
    Lucy
    to have
    turned into a lunatic
but it gave scope for some very funny parts. Wasn't gone on the ending though, felt rushed and
partnering Mr Gilbert with Will's mum just felt lazy
    . I also thought
    Katie's
involement in the movie ended rather abruptly.

Overall, though, very happy with it and anyone who gets any enjoyment out of the series is bound to be in knots of laughter at a few intervals.

I missed a little bit of the start but was any explanation offered as to why Neil and Will are still single?

I don't think there would have been any other way to have
    Greg Davies
in it to be honest and I'm glad they did. If there is a sequel, I'd like to see a bit more of him.

Definitely better than the first. I nearly died laughing at some of the scenes.

She was starring in Guardians of the Galaxy, although it was only one scene as Starlords mum. So I can't see that taking that long to do to be fair. So I doubt that.

I liked the film a lot, far better then the first one. yes the humour is a little gross out but it hits the right spots. the scenes in the water park were some of the best moments from the Inbetweeners and Will singing had me in stitches. But the best scene
Jay having a **** while Will is having it off with Katie
just the acting from James Buckley was pure comedy timing.

One thing I didn't like even when I saw it in the full trailer was the way they turned Lucy into such a
Bitch. She cheats on him and trashing his stuff
, it just seemed too much of a 180 for me personally. I thought Tamla Kari was one of the highlights of the first film, did Lucy ever show any type f that behaviour in the first film. Could they not have had Simon been the settle one of the gang and having doubts about it . I have to say I didn't like anything they did with the ex girlfriends even
Jay been turned down by his girlfriend from the first one didn't feel right
. It sort of ruins the first film a little for me cause I liked the girls and ruins the heart of it.

Oh I agree with you on
The way Lucy character went didn't sit right with me. The loveable Lucy who goes from the girl we were all rooting for Simon to chose over the horrible Carli in the first movie, turns into a far worse woman then Carli :(. It ruins the first film slightly now for me. As out of all the guys getting together with the girls, I thought Simon and Lucy one was the most loveable. Plus I just didn't find those scenes funny with her all bitchy and crazy, although the marriage proposal was funny with Jay's Aussie uncle

Saw this yesterday after hearing a lot of not great reviews so went in not expecting much, tis okay alright tbh!

Its basically the tv series but with a better location, a few better laughs and outtakes, not bad like and I did laugh out loud a few times!

Probably wouldnt go see it again, moreso because the puke/crap part actually made me gag a little, think I have an actual fear of seeing that though in general lol, but have to say twas much better than the first movie - so if your a fan of this youll probably love it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,426 ✭✭✭Roar

good fun for 90minutes. Some decent laughs. It doesn't really go anywhere and it just ends rather abruptly, but it was fun spending time in the company of those four characters again.

Wouldn't be recommending anyone rush out to the cinema to see it or anything, but it's worth a watch when the dvd comes out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,988 ✭✭✭constitutionus

    went to see this yesterday.

perfectly fine way to spend an afternoon. dont think its better than the first , but its not worse than it either.

the fact the lads are so likeable is the key to these films for me and it had me laughing out loud in several places so mission accomplished on the being funny front. jays lip quivering did it for me everytime.

i was a bit wary going in when some said its "gross out comedy" in places, but TBH its not as gratuitious as ive seen in other films.

    i'd give it 6.5 out of 10.

probably better to watch on DVD with a few beers , but by no stretch of the imagination a flim not worth seeing in the cinema. left the lads in a nice place i think.

Liked it, good laugh, definitely better than the first one.
If you like the inbetweeners I think you'll like it basically.
Gas to still see jay telling lies no matter how stung with the truth he is :D
