Nomophobia – fear of not having a mobile phone

The opposite of this - fear of having a mobile phone.

Heights. No problem with aeroplanes, but being near the edge of a balcony or anything vaguely similar makes me all queasy and peculiar.

    Trypophobia.

For something that seems stupid to some people, you wouldn't believe how often it affects me.

    My girlfriend has this man

She absolutely freaks with sponges or honeycomb or those holey pictures and all, like literally squirms into a ball

Me personally its Needles and blood

    I just pass out :/

It used to be wasps but I've gotten slightly better at being around them. Before I would freak out, flail and run away, now I just keep still and wait for them to go away. Seems to be true that they won't sting you unless you aggravate them - I had refused to believe that before!

My slightly stranger one, which I have yet to get over, is to do with nails (as in finger & toe nails, not nails you use in DIY). I cannot stand to be in the same room as someone filing their nails; the scraping sound and the thought of a nail file going any where near me makes me shiver. :( I can't even bear scratching a scratchcard with my nail, I have to use a coin.

I hate toe nails as well. Have to get a chiropodist to cut them for me. The thoughts of it make me want to pass out. I hate feet in general. There used to be an ad for toe fungus infections where a germ lifts a toe nail up and jumps in- swear it could make me vomit. Even typing this years later I feel cringe.

You beat me to it. I was invited to a rooftop party one time and lasted about ten minutes before having to leave. I can't be near any kind of a drop. I just completely turn to jelly.

    Anatidaephobia.

Winged creatures. Specifically if they're in close proximity to me. I couldn't say that I have a phobia in the sense that I don't completely freak out if a fly or something goes past me, but if a bird or a wasp or a moth was in the same room as me I'd have to get out of the room.

I did try falconry once which was a big deal for me and I was really proud of myself afterwards, it's actually a day I'll never forget. I don't know if I could do it again though, it's really hard to face your fears.

I don't think I have any irrational fears. Animals, insects or anything that lives doesn't scare me outside of common sense self preservation. EG: Lion in a cage = not scary, Lion running free = Scary.

I have a bit of a fear of heights which is normal but it wouldn't stop me from trying anything like sky diving. Weirdly, I have more of a fear of heights in dreams were a high ledge can turn my stomach but in real life that doesn't happen.

    Fear of buttons.

It was very bad when I was younger, believe it or not I used to get all the buttons taken out of my school shirt and have velcro stitched in:o

In secondary school I only had the bottom of the shirt buttoned, the middle and top buttons were all taken out and I just kept it together with my tie and jumper on. I remember doing my mocks in the summer and it was boiling outside and there I was sitting in a gym with loads of people sweating the bollocks of myself with a big woolly jumper on:o

Even to this day I wont wear shirts, In fact the only time I have wore a shirt since leaving school was for my debs and a wedding, needless to say I was pissed at both.

Clowns and rodents. Also big spiders, especially brown ones for some reason.

I also hate to touch velvet or cotton wool. Get the shivers just thinking about it.

The sea I remember being stuck on a trawler during a mini storm not far off shore I could actually see my house between the mountains of waves and wishing I was in my sitting room watching tv instead of being like a cork inside a washing machine

Once knew a girl who had a phobia of bananas. One of the lads (a complete a*shole) thought it would be hilarious to grab a banana and wave it in her face. She burst into tears and started freaking out big time.

Personally, rats freak the f*ck out of me

Hiccups >.< Can't stand when I get them and they make me cry if they go on too long.
Gotten a lot better with them though! There was a stage were I couldn't be in a room with someone that was hiccuping but now it just makes me uncomfortable.

When people have irrational fears it can be quiet funny to mess around and play on it. I once knew a lad who was afraid of pencils. I try not to tho as im an arachnophobe myself and the thought of any one putting a spider near me is horrible.

A particular kind of fear of heights. I can do the top of lighthouses and tall buildings no problem. Doesnt bother me in the slightest to look out over the edge and straight down. But put me at the end of a long ladder or on a scaffolding 30ft high and I get the shivers and need to cling to something. The difference is, any situation where there is as easy chance of losing balance or falling off, screws me up.

That's true. Right now I am dressed as a butterfly clown and covered in buttons, cotton wool and clusters of small holes.

Lions don't run free so much as just laze around and let the lioness do all the hunting. Nothing to fear.
