I hope to get on BF4 later tonight, been busy with work and wouldn't mind a few games. But after Rush the last night, anything but that! I don't think one Fox would have saved us from defeat, even you Border! :pac:

I played a few games of conquest last night with yas, had no mic though. I really don't like it, far prefer rush, there's too much running to and fro on huge maps.

Running? That's what the vehicles are for....
To be honest, the last few nights of Rush have been some of the worst rounds of Battlefield I've ever been involved with. The team balance is horrendous, I know it's bad on Conquest as well, but the smaller player counts exaggerates the problem. 7 or 8 organised guys in a full Conquest round will certainly have an impact but because it's 32v32, their influence doesn't always guarantee a win. You have 7 or 8 guys pulling together in Rush however, it's a dead cert.
Sure even when the teams are balanced, most of the maps cater so heavily to the attackers, especially vehicle wise(Golmud Railway), that the defenders are basically in a staggered retreat the whole round. It's a shame cos I do love a good round of Rush.

As I said in chat last night, it's becoming less an issue with the game itself and more of an issue with the average Battlefield player these days. Most randoms are too protective of their K/D to actually get themselves on an objective :(

Yeah I don't like rush or the likes of capture the flag,it doesn't work well in bf4,with bf3 I had no problem with those modes, with the maps in 4,just seems a bad layout

I don't think they have the Rush bomb locations perfected even after the update from what I have seen. Its almost as if they created the maps with Conquest in mind and added in the other game modes afterwards. Those rounds of Rush were only fun because of the chat and playing with a few from here. The constant dying over and over was frustrating. The games we played on Conquest were a lot more rewarding.

There is nothing you can do really on Rush as a defender, on maps like Golmud anyway, unless you are in a full team that is an entire clan and they are all communicating which to be honest wouldn't generally happen imho. That is why i prefer Conquest and get on there whenever I can. If i can help the team great, and if there is a clan on the other side, it might not necessarily mean our team will lose either, like Darren said. I can try and take objectives easier than in Rush too. I also only ever use TDM to warm-up or try out new loadouts. So those would be the main gamemodes I play.

I'm one player that switched from COD to BF4 and I have to say that in general i think the players on Battlefield are much more team-oriented than on there. But there are always going to be a few that think their "montage" footage is worth more than helping with any objective.

I hear what you all are saying but rush isn't as bad as you're making out. I've only ever played with randoms and I kow there's nothing more frustrating than having a squad of snipers sitting back while you alone try to attack or defend an objective. But I think it's probably only about a 10%-20% chance of getting stuck with a team of duds vs a well oiled clan. I've played with plenty of randoms who ptfo.

I suppose I like that in rush there's a higher player density, you have an objective to defend and attack and 32 players will be in that general area rather than 32/64 players on conquest spread all over the map. It happened me a few times last, spent a minute or two running from one objective to another, see no one on the way, only to get killed when I get there by someone hiding in a bush or sitting in a corner.

But I'll keep joining in for a few games of conquest to get better at it and the vehicles, anytime I get in a vehicle I seem to attract every engineer and c4 recon/support :)

    ....it works.....sometimes.

Rush can be okay but fails the majority of the time and thus not a viable game-mode for me.

In Battlefield 3, I currently have 2,773 Rush ribbons (Awarded for simply competing, not winning) It was the mode I exclusively played. In Battlefield 4 I have 138 Rush Winners ribbons, since I've won more than 50% of total matches played. I'll be generous and double it so we'll say I have 276 played - Granted BF3 was out for 2 years while BF4 was out for just over 1 but even then that's less than 1/4 of the games played. I have a very good grasp of how Rush should/can/will be played. Speaking from experience as opposed to popular opinion.

Rush in Battlefield 4 is absolutely all over the place. Between the 10 other team-mates trying to share that one braincell between them is enough to put me off. BUT it's not just the players as if you have a single squad working in sync you can do so much damage to the other team in seconds. It's the actual balance of the game-mode.

For instance as Golmud has been mentioned before; The Defenders get a tank and if it gets destroyed that's it. it's gone but the attackers get a tank and it will respawn. That's not even remotely fair - I get that DICE make the game somewhat realistic by limited resources, all that background war-room stuff but at the end of the day it's unbalancing the game. All you need is a good enemy tank driver or an eejit in your tank to pretty much seal your fate. Now I'm not saying it's impossible to win in that case as if 4 Engineers shoot 4 RPGs at once that tank won't have a hope in hell but all it takes is for those 4 to take their eyes off the M-Com for a few seconds to focus on the tank for an enemy to arm it then while they concentrate on disarming it a tank respawns and causes the focus to split between the tank and M-Com.

It may well be only 10% - 20% but we seem to end up within that percentage more often than not. But you have the right to your own opinion. You may just be used to the chaos that is Rush but we're tried that last few nights and it's been horrible. No matter how good a team-mate you are you can't arm or defuse an M-Com using only your Resupply/Revive/Spotting ribbons.
Also the way they have "cut" some of the maps causes a much more need to run straight for the M-Com as opposed to trying to work around it. On a few maps there are places that a Sniper or Vehicle can go from the Attacker team (for example) that the defender can't - While this is to stop spawn killing it causes problems. Even in Zavod on Conquest if someone gets in the M142 (Mobile Artillery) and drives it back to their spawn it's out of the field of play for the enemy but it can still kill people due to it's range. I've seen similar things happen with tanks and LAVs in Rush only it's more unbalanced to the the confined playable area.

Of course in saying that some maps are just total anarchy anyway. Such as Operation (Meat) Locker in which one team's spawn (for the life of me I can't remember which) is actually closer to the C flag than the opposition so they have a better chance of grabbing it and drawing out the slaughter first - Of course it can be turned around by the tunnel and outside but that's another story for another day.

Rush has become Stalingrad to a certain degree and it's just not the type of game-mode it once was.

I finally unlocked the mother fúckin phantom bow.. To me, whether the bow itself is that good or not is irrelevant. As a relative noob I tended to play the same way the whole time which did kinda get boring but I figured playing it safe was better than going into a jet and getting shot out of the sky 30 seconds later. Same with tanks, I was more often than not on the losing side of a 1 on 1 tank battle.

But the reward requirements needed to get the bow has made me a much better/versatile player. If I was losing interest in the game it has certainly been rekindled.. Onwards and upwards from here.

Congrats Gerry. Nice to see you didn't get your hopes up for the Phantom Bow. Fùck me I was devastated :D I'm intent on getting the Mastery Tag though.....only 190 more kills to go....ha

The importance of vehicles really is what sets Battlefield apart from the 'competition'. I love vehicle combat, even if I'm not great at it. I've made a big effort of forcing myself to use them all in BF4 to the point where I'd be fairly comfortable in any vehicle at this stage. Not necessarily good, but not a burden either. Biggest proof of this is in the jets; in nearly 620 hours of BF3 I racked up a grand total of 2 Attack Jet kills compared to over 50 this time round, 260 jet kills total. Nothing impressive but it's a personal victory of sorts. Still can't dog fight to save my life but I'm not as easy a target. I just figure that if there's a tank/LAV/chopper etc sitting in your spawn, the only one that actually benefits is the enemy.

I'm gonna spend the foreseeable future trying to improve my effectiveness in tanks though. A few of us were on last night and on Golmud Railway we came up against a clan whose Tanks were running in tantum with dedicated Anti-Armour loadouts. They were rarely more than 50m apart at any point and just let their infantry deal with any ground threats. As is usual of late, if our squad wasn't doing something, nobody was. We held off their armour and infantry at B for a good 10 minutes.....while the rest of our team proceeded to lose the flags we earned up to that point. It was ridiculous and properly disheartening.

Who doesn't like a massive wall of text.
Since we have some new people which may want to take part.
We do Weekly-ish challenges. We've been taking a break for the last few weeks.
We set a kit for each player (in this case it's open so anyone can take part)
You can be as mean as you like but be mindful it's just as easy for someone to challenge you back.
You'll never be forced to compete in a challenge but to date no-one has actually full-on rejected to take part.
To take part "Thank" this comment and I'll add you to a table which will track the process.
You are allowed to complete a single Tier but you cannot do Tier 1 by itself - Tier 2 and 3 must be completed first.

In order for me to access your stats you may need to set you stats to public or add me via BattleLog (You can find me in the Platoon Roster )
Once we are within the time limit I will post the stats and then your job will be to get achieve the results.

Open Challenge - We will Kill again
    Tier 3:
    Kit: Recon
    Primary Weapon: M39 DMR
    Attachments: Any sight
    Laser Sight (Green/Red)
    Heavy barrel
    Any Grip
    Secondary Weapon: .44 Magnum
    Attachments:Iron sights
    Compensator
    No accessories
    Grenade: M67 Frag
    Gadgets: MAV - T-UGS
Objective: 5 Spotting Ribbons (4 Spot bonuses for Each ribbon || 20 Kill Assists)

    Tier 2:
    Vehicles
Objective:3 Main Battle Tank ribbons (15 Kills)
You've had plenty of time to brush up your skills.

    Tier 1:
    Top Tier challenge.
Receive a final accuracy of 25%+ using the above kit of the M39 and .44 with at least 5 Kills
Recommend you play two different games as it may take a while to complete the 20 Kill Assists
Battle Reports are a necessity for this challenge

    Time Limit: Friday at 18:00 (23rd) - Friday at 18:00 (30th)
    1 Week
Any progress made before/after this time will NOT count.

In the event you only want to completed one Tier you can choose the one you wish to do, although you can't choose Tier 1 as a standalone challenge.

If you have any questions - Feel free to ask.

I realised while writing it out yesterday that I always gave a bit of freedom with the gadgets so this is to completely lock someone into the kit.

Freedom is overrated anyway and the less David Hasslehoff has to sing about, the better.

You can do Tier 2 then you'll have a week to unlock it - I'll note your Tank Ribbons and add you to the board when I get. home. Also DMRs are for all classes not just Recon
