Argh, not sure what to do now. Played again tonight and was on fire, at one stage I was 25-5 but the point here is to mention that he five timesi died was entirely down to packet loss.

    Some weird **** happening, eg

    - killing a guy then going to this screen under the map, had to respawn
    - dying and having to spend the rest of the map seeing his kill cam, couldn't respawn
    - not being able to spawn at all
    - not bring able to change squads

    ...and so on

    :(

Played a few games last night with Darren and Falstaff - Little to no lag just the occasional frame drop.

Hey guys, any chance you could test your internet connection on psn next time your playing and let me know what it says your WiFi signal is.

I am trying to solve my lag problems.

    Appreciated

I use an Ethernet cable. PS4 is only about 15 feet from the router so I'm lucky enough. From what I've heard, those adapter plugs Jaffusmax recommended can help a lot though

Hard-wired myself into the router - If you're close enough to take advantage of your router I'd recommend it as ethernet cables really do make a massive difference

    8 minutes
    14 kills
    4 vehicles destroyed
    2 kit swaps
    1 life :D

That was deadly, I'm gonna try and take a few tips from it. It certainly doesn't look like the way I play BF online that's for sure!
What is that RPG that you are using please?
I got up to lvl 11 last night playing with two of my buddies, I'd love to get in with a bigger squad though tonight if I can. Are you getting on later yourself man?
That helicopter giving you a haircut at the start of the video was hilarious.

That's a SMAW - It does more damage than the RPG when hitting tanks from the side or back and 95% of the time it's guaranteed to destroy a helicopter even with 2 repair monkeys hanging off the side.

Thanks. To be honest, none of the SMAW shots were particularly difficult, the pilots slowed down way too much over flags. It was just the fact I hit 3 in such a short space of time that I thought was worth sharing.
As far as I know, the RPG-7 does slighter more damage than the SMAW but it has a slower travel speed and more drop so it can be harder to hit moving or distant targets. I find the SMAW to be handier for aircraft and the RPG for armour.
I know it'll sound obvious, but just pick 1 and stick with it for a while to get used to the lead and drop etc. Swapping back and forth will definitely throw your aim off. If your hitting armour, try not hit the front as it can take up to 5 hits to kill it. Ideally you'll want to hit the back, but wherever you hit it, hit it straight on. Any sort of angle will deflect damage away from the vehicle. 1 good 90° hit on the back will result in a disable so if you can move around for a better shot, do it.

I'm working a little longer than my normal Saturday today but I hope to get on at some point tonight.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not doing too bad online so far. I've gotten a **** load of tags off unsuspecting lads but obviously I've still got a lot more to learn.
I'm trying my best not to run around like a headless chicken but it's hard!
The last thing that unlocked for me last night was the SAM launcher, I'm looking forward to taking down some helicopters tonight with it.

That AK 5C you've just unlocked is a great carbine as well. Really good all round weapon, not great at any one thing in particular but very good at nearly everything.

RPG to the back and a tank is gone because it will take 50%+ damage and you will get off another hit. That reason, and the fact, I want to see how many RPG kills I can accumulate is why I use that. I have 800 kills now I think

Re internet connection, that's a balls for me because the gamjng room is across the hall from the router etc so no chance of getting a cable through without it obstructing the house.

Was fine up to before Xmas in all.

It seems grand alright, I think I'm suffering from some lag at the minute though, I've set myself up in the kitchen and I'm using the wifi from out in the hall. I'd swear blind that I riddled a good few lads in the chest last night, only for them to just gun me down like I hadn't fired a shot at them.

I know that sounds like a racing excuse but I'm convinced I'll do better with the console hard wired to the router.

Thanks for this but how does it work. I have chorus horizon so the modem/router is internal. Does that.make a difference?

Firstly as paul_booth_fan said if your modem is near your ps4 use an Ethernet cable.
These work great if your router/modem is far away from your PS4 etc. How it works is that it uses your house electrical wiring as a high speed network cable. You plug one in a spare wall socket next to your modem and connect an Ethernet between the two, then you place the second in a spare wall socket next to your PS4 and again connect the two with an Ethernet cable. Make sure you have a working Ethernet socket on your router/modem!
Then you have a high speed and hopefully lag-less connection!

My buddy, who's also a boardsie, kindly dropped his set of those plugs up there ^^^ around to me last night so I could try them out. We tested the connection using the wifi and got 10M download and 5M upload.
With those plugs we got 37M download and 10M upload. Some difference.
I never got to try them out in anger though because my other half went out for "a quick drink" with her mate and I was babysitting.
    I shall have my revenge...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,604 ✭✭✭jaffusmax

Yeah they are a great and not too expensive. My other half went nutz when I used a screwdriver to put holes in the walls to run a Cat6 cable through the house. I never knew of these yolks at the time!

I was playing on a Server last night and for the first time ever I got Banned. Reason? I was coming first and I shot the server owner with my Deagle in the face.

I noticed this yesterday. Maybe I'm just reading too much into it and it's just an error with the Battlelog app, but considering DICE have confirmed more content is coming, I thought it was interesting.

    On the main soldier page where you can check your stats and see your completion level etc, this is what I see;
    uclnqzW.png?1
    The "Kits" section here reads 51/51, nothing outta the ordinary there. When I was in the "Unlocks" section however, I noticed this;
    YfY2ghy.png?1
It now reads 51/52:confused:......could be a glitch with the app, could be something else.... I just think that with the latest patch due soon, not to mention any new content, I wouldn't rule anything out.

That's pretty strange, especially if it was a glitch. It could be though. There was talk that there might be more to come from that secret room in Hangar 21 so the kit, if it's a true unlock, could also have something to do with that? I think i remember someone mentioning they saw a dogtag on one of the CTE servers with "Uprise" on it. Maybe the name of the next DLC as well?

The few games we played last night were fun, albeit frustrating when coming up against those clans. At least we tried, the rest of our team just seemed to be headless chickens though, and don't get me started on those brilliant "recon's" stuck in our base. I guess the clans are out in force these days to get their fill of christmas noobs. Apart from that one game yesterday its been a while (probably feels longer than it actually is!) since I was on the winning side in Conquest! :pac:

I think it was confirmed 'Uprise' was another project DICE LA were working on but not Battlefield related.

Yeah that was 2 nights in a row we came up against a fully functioning Clan. Those RAZ guys on Saturday were very very good. Their Clan has over 40 members, their average K/D is over 4 and SPM of 700......and to think, if only 1 or 2 guys outside our squad actually knew what the fúck they were supposed to be doing, we would've won several of those rounds. Same on Sunday, outside the IRL guys and Tommy in our squad, it was like a black hole consuming all skill and common sense.

    Twas fun though :D

Yeah i think if we had another squad working with us we could have given them much closer games, and like you said won a couple.

Haha too true. I think the more I play Battlefield the less i understand how teammates can just walk past an enemy who not only has to be visible on their screen but is also visible on their minimap! But its a lot more fun in a squad than attempting Battlefield on your own. I tried a couple of rounds last night and it was as frustrating as ever being a lonewolf. No matter what i did I couldn't get a win.

It would be handy to mention in some of his videos that his tactics will work provided your team actually intends on playing the game and not playing footsie in the spawn.

I believe footsie is part of DICEs 'teamplay initiative'.....

last night was the first time in ages i was on battlefield 4, and it seems to have improved a lot, either that or it was just a lucky moment.

I was quiet in chat because i was on the phone but they were a good few games and stabbing worked lol

perhaps we should organize a night where most of the IRL guys are on so we can make a better attempt at this team play stuff!

Sounds like a good plan! I'm hoping to get on late Saturday night if the baby sleeps. :-)
